Can we stop with all the "this is bad" nonsense? They're all isolated clusters, bulk reported. Big difference between them and community transmission. There's outbreak prevention teams in place.

SO what you're saying is that when a cluster is identified, none of the cases are reported until everyone is tested and the total is then reported?

Seems like they were holding back numbers until they had tested and isolated a cluster. We don't normally get such a detailed breakdown of cases announced the same day. it's usually based on the day before's figures.
Guess it helps explain the figures when they have the details behind them.
Exactly yes, just as we expected. This is an anomaly realistically, it's unlucky that we've had such massive outbreaks at the same time.

Yeah, that could well be the pubs gone for another 3 weeks.

    They could:
    * Open beer gardens
    * Open pubs outside of city limits.

At least there's a press conference today to explain it.

To be fair to Glynn he's explained it quite well. They appear to have fully traced and tested the outbreaks before reporting the cases seeing as the factory has been closed since Friday.

Yup. That's what has happened today. The factory has been shut for a week.

How are people living in a direct provision center working?

The law was changed to allow asylum seekers work. Incedently many are working in nursing homes.

The obsession with pubs is frankly odd.

Jesus on a stick, omg I can only imagine how many people those 85 have infected. A staggering number no doubt and all of them are out there, some of them with unwashed hands could be touching things in supermarkets as we speak. Truly terrifying, I literally feel sick (from fear).
Calm down now Paddy its not the black death bubonic plague.

Glynn reinforcing here that yes its a high number but stressing they can account for the cases and shows how the outbreak teams in place have traced the clusters.

Saying now isn't the time for knee jerk reactions.

"Vast majority of cases can be accounted for, we know where they come from. It's a significant number but reflects the fact that the numbers of outbreaks identified over the past few weeks have been identified and acted upon quickly."

Have they decided what the protocol will be when a school has a positive case? Will the school shut?

Any indication if the 7 in Limerick and 11 in Clare are connected? Numerous ‘Limerick’ suburbs are in Clare.

Would be worse if they just released 85 new cases and no breakdown. Not that the media will report the reasons.
If it's like the Sligo cluster and they can lock it down fast, then it's still under control.

That would only lead to pub tourism. People from the cities travelling to rural pubs.

I've no issue with asylum seekers working in normal times but these aren't normal times.

Hardly unlucky - these are places that recently came out of lockdown - its gonna happen, just need to be able to react quickly and isolate.

Well the bloke in charge says 'no knee-jerk reactions' - so why are the 'be afraid' folks worrying themselves into a stupor?
