That's the thing I don't live in Britain so I have no idea how people behave on a local level, I can offer an opinion based on the news but there is always a bias I find with reporting, it would be unfair to castigate the public as I haven't a clue since I live in Ireland.

I barely watch the Irish news, I'm getting my info from relatives and from posters on here admitting their intentions themselves.

Only 38 people left in ICU in all of Italy. Thats down from a peak of over 4000.

Insane. Even though they’re putting up 200-300 cases every day, ICU figures have been in a constant decline. At their peak I think they found maybe 6,000 cases in a day. I wonder how many multiples were actually out there at the time, given limited testing capacity. I think their overall ICU capacity went from just below 4,000 to a surge capacity of 9,000 if needed.

Your relatives are unhappy jaysus that's awful for them. I'll remember to pass on their unhappiness to my friends whom I'm going to visit. I will do the same with my work colleagues who are travelling back to their home country to see family. I'm sure they will take note of your families unhappiness.
Tell your family to stay home as the Irish holiday hotspots are very crowded due to 'staycations'.

6 in hospital, 4 in ICU, 2 ventilated. Unfortunately one death in ICU in last 24 hours.

No hospital has more than 1 patient. Beaumont, Portlaoise, Tallaght, Mater, Sligo, Drogheda all have just 1 patient each.

One case confirmed in hospital in last 24 hrs (Portlaoise)

Just saw it there myself. RIP.

It is good to see that our hospitals are nearly clear of any Covid patients. Only 2 suspected cases of Covid in icu as well. Lowest I’ve seen

No hosptial with more than 1 case either.
0 cases recorded in hospitals in the last 24hrs up to 8pm.

Awful to see someone pass away in ICU.

6 across all hosptials is great

You go round in circles don't you, first you accuse me of lumping the Irish public all in together now you're saying my (Irish) relatives opinions don't matter. Anyway, it's been great, have to get going my flight is just about to start boarding.

I didn't say they don't matter, i just won't be taking any heed of them . Enjoy your flight, wash your hands and wear a mask.

That's roughly the same as us being at 1450 a day, there was days in April we were over 1000.

And somehow that isn't even the record for a single country.

We had one day that hit 936 and a few days hovering around the 600 mark

The highs you are talking about were artificial from the German testing

Brazil is reporting massive numbers every single day

Exactly... and we allow entry to BillieJoe, Josh, Doug, Buford and their partners Emmylou, Darlene, Savannah and MillieBeth who are projecting a fine mist of their saliva, blowing their snot and slobbering their mucous all over the country.

The virus is practically beaten here, but we still allow potential seeding from the most virus ridden country in the world.

    Absolute madness.

As much as it’s awful to say the Brazil numbers are very good for vaccine research.

I'm not sure that anyone denied it was potentially airborne. Perhaps it is, and I recall various laboratories confirming same over the last few months. Everything is possible in terms of transmission, but should we not concentrate in terms of what the likely main means of transmission is - close confined spaces and karoke. In that way we just might be able to lead reasonably normal lives (including masks where in confined spaces and not possible to distance at all i.e. it's ok to get a pint of milk in Tesco :) ) without us all worrying about somebody's sneeze from 30 minutes earlier.

Jesus, we couldn't be at such low levels of community transmission if everyone over the last 4 months was contaminating everyone while they got the morning shop.

Yes, had a pint or two, in the pub, god help us all we're doomed :D

I thought Victoria is still in lockdown. What is going on down there?
