Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Where’s the best in Waterford?

    Any places freshly battering the fish?

    They were open yesterday too.

    Best in the city is Johnny Walkers in my opinion,and in the county would have to be East Pier in Dunmore,also And Chips in Dungarvan is really good too.

    Thats been like that since the lockdown they never updated it ,also the fish n chips in Brennan's on the Cork Rd is good too

    doolys tramore is the best esp with sea air hunger. In the city Walkers also good. The place in Dunmore is quality

    I was disappointed with eunices powers anchips in Dungarvan

    Danny's in Barrack St is nice if you can find a chisel to remove the batter, but dooleys is the nicest by far in my opinion.

    I would have to go with East Pier in Dunmore East. The fish is freshly dipped in batter to order rather than made in advance and refried.

    Any of the Dooleys in Tramore would be a close second.

    Macarthys chipper down on the prom, its near the surf shop. Best chips in Tramore by a good bit

    As your man in the Marian used to say, cod is too expensive. Any of the chippers who are selling you "fresh" cod is either frozen or not cod at all.

    Chippers rarely use fresh cod due to cost and waste.

    Their version of 'fresh' is serving it up to you there and then.

    Yeah its rare that you find Cod in chippers these days.

    Its mostly Hake, Pollock. Cod has been severely overfished, and is a fairly expensive fish.

    O'Shea's probably do the best combination of both, I found the fish to be nice over at East Pier but the hand full of chips that came with very greasy and not as nice. Don't think I'd be in a rush to go back especially with the long queues.

    Is The Golden Fry in Johns Park any good? Never tried it for fish and chips and i pass it several times a week. Any opinions from people who use it?

    Used to be a great chipper back in the day. Remember stopping there regularly after a game down the RSC. Has changed hands plenty of times since afaik. I personally haven't tried it in a long time.

    Thanks. Might check it out next time, always seems to be crowded when I pass, and I always mentally brace myself for some "interesting" parking if I have to turn left at the roundabout, ready for the 3 or 4 cars which are mostly sitting on the road!

    I'm not a big fish eater, but Robertos in Lisduggan would be my favourite chipper at the moment.

    I got Fish and Chips in the Golden Fry for the first time in many years, after a walk in Tramore on Friday and I was very impressed! A mountain of chips and the fish was golden brown and cooked perfectly.

    I had heard mixed reviews when the new owners initially took over but I couldn't fault them on this. It was around 7pm on Friday so the place was busy; 7 people behind the counter and 2 delivery drivers. They must be doing something right.

    It is a bit of a bollox trying to pass by there though as others have mentioned with the artistic display of parking which goes on.

    I know its right on a roundabout so parking is limited but to be fair you could just park up the road near the Centra or if you are pushed, the parking lot in the church across the road. I guess some people are just lazy though. I wouldn't dream of wrecking my tyres on that high footpath around the corner!!

    If people could drive in the door they would, people are lazy AF! It's a death trap trying to pull out there by Ballytruckle green too with people parking outside the ****ing Florist! :mad:
