Provide a source? For the excess mortality? Has your head been in the sand? It was headline news for days a couple of weeks ago

So 1200 extra dead peeps is nothing?? Think that's about the figure, at least that's what I was able to understand from the news. Not mentioning all the f... ups with testing, contact tracing etc.

Still waiting on your figures. Provide a source or stop posting misinformation.

France has announced that face coverings will be compulsory from Monday in enclosed spaces such as shops.

For anyone too selfish to wear a mask, read this and wear a mask when around people. I and alot more users here do not want to get symptoms like these. Also, we do not want to end up as a long hauler.

This is a scary disease, one in which we don't have a vaccine for. A few minutes in a shop, or on public transport, and people feel put out. Well, I couldn't care less how you feel so hard done by with mandatory masks. I do not want to catch this disease, I do not want symptoms that last for weeks or months, I do not want to end up in the ICU, I do not want to end up on a ventilator and nobody should be allowed to infect others with a disease like this.

    Just wear a mask, please.

Too little we know about Covid-19 yet, to be playing with it. I rather stay cautious and get on with normal life as much as possible while avoiding infection. It's that simple.

My thoughts exactly. Lots of people seem to rather get into tantrums about their rights rather than just getting on with it and getting over this crap year.

Yup, that's the way I see it. And I believe most of the posters on this thread have it same way. It's great to see country almost fully open, that's the way I want it. Just hope most of the people will stay alerted and keep being careful.

Over half of those hospitalised had these neurological problems?

That seems huge, has this been verified by any other reports?

This is the thing, it's not just a year, this could be the rest of our lives. There's a solution which doesn't require masks that should be adopted until we find a better way.
I've my party hat pretty much hung up, there's a few generations behind me that deserve to be having the time of their lives.

Donning the mask is letting Government off the hook until god knows when. It's not a country I want to bring my kids up in. I'm jumping ship at some stage with my family if this goes on too long.

When do you stop wearing it? What do we do with bare faces and the people who it triggers a first official mental illness in like me, seriously, what's the plan here i'm not seeing it.

Not people with medical exemptions. People who can't be arsed to wear a variety of face coverings during a pandemic? Yes, all day long. Just what is the big deal? And why do the same people dismiss masks straight away? Is the concern for others so little no thought is even given to it?

I’m at a loss to understand why people just don’t want to wear them...

Are the uncomfortable ?... after getting used to them...NO, not at all.

are they expensive... NO, not remotely

    Just get some, use them...

Some true colours coming out. This post just drips with contempt for those who are most vulnerable to the coronavirus.

By contrast those urging people to wear masks - and in their ranks are the healthy and vulnerable - stress their fraternity and solidarity with all in this crisis.

    Elimination.

And we have to wear masks to help slow down the spread until we get a vaccine which will help with elimination.

I test drove one earlier, basically you are beathing in the same air you expelled, not a healthy way to live for any length of time, sort of like taking back in your own piss.

Work for a large retailer. No guidance, no word about mandatory masks in shops apart from hearing co-workers complaining about it haven't heard anything official from the company as of yet.

When the recommendation from the HSE and various other verifiable medical sources and resources is to wear a mask, I’m going with wearing... if it was just Joe Duffy or the legion of Mary I could appreciate the skepticism..... the sources are informed, verifiable and that really should be good enough... if people can provide some verifiable counter arguments as to why mask wearing is counter productive and make those counter arguments verifiable by furnishing the sources that lead them to think this, the qualifications of those who are providing this information and the studies if any to prove their version of the argument....

Why do they need them. Do they not have screens like all banks even before cv19

    https://www.healthimaging.com/topics/advanced-visualization/covid-19-brain-abnormalities-mri

Reading the slack group with people who are recovering from this, I'm not surprised in the least by the figure. People are reporting "brain fog" where they'll be convinced of things that aren't real, or they'll forget to address something urgent for days on end.

It's a blood clotting disease. The respiratory symptoms are just how it gets around, once it starts replicating it starts to trigger an immune response which is incredibly l laborious. So the damage done by that is going to affect the organs unless you're unbelievably healthy, and can maintain that level of health somehow throughout the duration of the virus.
