What's with the aggressive tone? Is there really a need for it?

Not at all ,you think that disagreement is aggressive?

I've surprised we haven't heard of mass outbreaks in mainland Europe such as Greece/France both containing large refugee camps.

I think your tone is very aggressive as is the language used and I'm somewhat amused at the necessity for it. Disagreement is good life would be boring otherwise. It's a discussion forum nothing is achieved by being aggressive with others only the use of the ignore function.

    Northern Ireland:

0 deaths for the 7th day running
    4 additional cases
0 cases in ICU for 14th day running

NI is the example to us now. It is acheiveable. It also shows that the virus is not prevalent on the island.

This is part of the interview with DR Scally that was on RTE earlier. After the North have moved in line with the UK position on no quarantine to a list of around 50 countries he basically wants Martin and Donnelly to reach out to NI to implement a quarantine and get the island to 0 cases.

Dr Lambert is much more realistic in his approach.

We're now the complete outlier in this area of the world in terms of restrictions which are now redundant by having a back door through Belfast and you'll not have broken any laws or guidelines.

    https://www.rte.ie/news/coronavirus/2020/0710/1152516-coronavirus-travel/

Gabriel Scally, another supposed expert talking ****e.

As NI has now opened up to travel and is implementing its green list, he is calling for an all island approach to get to zero cases on the island of Ireland, which involves "taking hard decisions about quarantine of travellers".

"We shouldn't be having individual personal travellers coming into Ireland without them being quarantined and I mean properly quarantined and that means making use of hotels and other facilities around airports that are not being full used."

It beggars belief that someone being touted as an expert is being asked for comments as if these types of suggestions are genuinely practical and even necessary. The fast-becoming irrelevant nature of these experts is not sitting well with them and the total collapse in the scale of the covid problem in Ireland also doesn't sit well with them or the media. The government really needs to step up and take control of this situation which is already out of hand.

Varadkar and Ryan have already dismissed Scallys suggestion of quarantine out of hand.
Wasn't Scally one of the signatories of the infamous 1000 scientists / academics letter?

The world is racking up 220,000 detected cases a day at the moment. By the end of the weekend we'll most definitely have >13m cases worldwide. It took just 48h to get from 12m to 12.5m.

It's important to remember that this does not accurately represent all of the cases in the world, due to asymptomatic carriers and the limited amount of tests that can be carried out globally.

The world isn't certain regions are, the distinction is important.

Scotland still requires people travelling from Spain to quarantine - unlike England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Nicola Sturgeon also said people arriving from 39 UK green-rated and certain amber-rated countries will not have to isolate for 14 days.

Spain and Serbia will not be included due to the high prevalence of Covid-19 in those countries.

Not to be drawn in to an argument, but do you not live on earth or something? Also airports exist.

Are you going to attack any information posted here about the global situation?

A third GAA club in West Cork has now suspended activity.
Argideen Rangers first, then Ballinascarthy and now St. Oliver Plunketts have stood down.

It's not an argument, many regions of the planet have the virus very much under control or close to under control . Several don't America/ Brazil the two obvious. The death tolll has also fallen from April's peak, however M Ryan of WHO has said it may rise again as there is a lag between infection and deaths. However the word 'may ' not 'will' was used. So a little hope prehaps.
Do you not want discussion, do you feel your contributions are above comment?

No, you're absolutely right and I shouldn't have said anything. Apologies for describing the global situation in the main boards.ie covid thread. I will refrain from doing so going forward.

Actually this thread refers to Ireland/ NI deaths and cases.
What you post or where is your business but it's a discussion forum and you may get challenged.

Personally I live in Ireland, so this is the main thread for me and I don't think global news is forbidden, although I'm open to correction on that. Looks like you're on a mission today to ensure thread gets derailed by bickering yet again. That seems to be the main purpose of it these days.

I have to say I'm with Jack Lambert on this one. The one way ticket I booked back in December leaves in five days... I might even go and never come back! :D

I know they have found lesions in children they didnt even know were sick.
On their lungs, kidneys and hearts.. but it was only a small sample.

Maybe you have better medical guideance that could put our minds at rest?
Link to the papers here for us please?

    Thanks.

No, because I am not the person flying that kite as something so terribly serious we need to stay submerged and running silent for next who knows how many years.

Insinuating something is a serious problem brings with it an onus of proof. Clearly there isn't any. Time to surface, don masks and open the hatch for some much needed fresh air.

Seems like the contact tracing app is being used already. I’ve had 5 exposure checks since the app launch.

Checking to see if I’ve been in contact with a positive key.

This thread is for commenting on the global covid situation as that has an effect on the situation in Ireland.

I know someone who works in the ar park of cliffs of moher.

Happy they are working but not happy the amount of Americans carrying on with their visit the old country plan.

    Place is full of them.

As a citizen I know people need to make a living.but this is wrong.

What the fvck is the point of adhering to any regulations.

You believe wrong. Only yesterday, 15 out of our 23 cases for that day were travel related.
Directly or indirectly was what he said. Part of that is a family cluster, which is really more community than travel related now. TBH it is part of the don't travel message.
