    Horrendous case of it

I wonder if he had any underlying symptoms. I can't find an article that mentions it

Is it true U.S tourists are in Kerry at the moment?

Complications which affect a miniscule % of those that contract it, still not seeing the relevance to the subject of the thread.

    Really?

Nick Cordero's wife says he may need a double lung transplant to recover from coronavirus

    How about now?

Yes. Arriving over last week or so.

From that CNN article, it linked his wife's Instagram post

    https://www.instagram.com/p/B_8qYEogmw7/?utm_source=ig_embed
Our last family photo before Nick got sick. What this man has gone through! Nick is 41 years old. He had no pre-existing health conditions. We do not know how he got COVID-19 but he did. He went to the ER on March 30th and intubated on a ventilator on April 1.

Since then has he has suffered an infection that caused his heart to stop, he needed resuscitation, he had two mini strokes, went on ECMO, went on dialysis, needed surgery to removal an ECMO cannula that was restricting blood flow to his leg, a faciatomy to relieve pressure on the leg, an amputation of his right leg, an MRI to further investigate brain damage, several bronchial sweeps to clear out his lungs, a septis infection causing septic shock, a fungus in his lungs, holes in his lungs, a tracheostomy, blood clots, low blood count and platelet levels, and a temporary pacemaker to assist his heart.

He has spent 38 days now in the ICU. This disease does not only effect old people. This is real. A perfectly healthy 41 year old man! Bring awareness to his story. STAY HOME! FOLLOW GUIDELINES! This journey with Nick has been the hardest thing we’ve ever had to go through. I ask God for a miracle and my Dad reminded me that God is answering my prayer everyday because he is still with us!

Nick is a fighter and has not given up. His doctors and nurses have been truly incredible. Thank you

That's gotta be the worst case of it I've read about

    Why are you downplaying this?

Has any other virus left so much people in ICU and fighting for their lives?

Have a watch on st James documentary, you might grow a heart.

US reporting a record (again) 51,106 cases with some states yet to report.

It’s a general coronavirus thread. It’s not specific to anything such as restrictions, specific treatment, wearing PPE. The fact that the title specifically outlines Irish cases and deaths does not mean it’s only ireland discussion.

It was a Covid case. It is relevant to some and irrelevant to others. Is there a reason why outliers shouldn’t be mentioned especially when a lot of people say it is harmless.

Nothing wrong with mentioning an outlier, I asked what was the purpose. Simple question which the poster refused to answer which is their right.

    Very important question actually

Is any information available regarding serious health issues affecting the survivors I wonder.

I've read that Covid-19 can cause stickiness of the blood, thereby increasing the risk of stroke, heart attack, etc.

If there is nothing wrong with mentioning an outlier, why question the purpose of it? It showed that people who have no underlying issues can be seriously affected. They didn’t say that it is expected but it fitted in with long term effects such as lung damage in some cases.

And if it’s their right not to answer the first time, why ask and ask and ask.

What is an outlier, Nick Cordero has been talked about alot during this pandemic in his ongoing Covid19 battle

To be fair i’d say lung transplants is an incredibly rare lasting effect.

I don't think the Dept of Health or HSE released that information for ROI

I have heard of some cases developing asthma, septis and diabetes after having Covid

Can one go to a pub, maintaining social distancing, from 20th July without the requirement to purchase food and without the time limit?

I did answer that his condition was from Covid19 hence why the update was posted here

I've heard of people barely even noticing they were ill.

Yes for the no food part. Time limit not confirmed for when wet pubs re-open as far as I know. Presuming there isn't a huge rise in cases before then that is.

Many people never even feel a bit ill and have no clue they have it hence why people should use masks where it isn't possible to social distance.

Yeah you wont need food, as it is anyway the time limit is non existant in most pubs.

Yeah I mentioned that, along with numbers infected. Terrible that so little value was placed on the lives of the elderly by the people in charge.
