    I really doubt anyone cares about what “condition” your 7 seater car is in.

    No need, the enthusiasm that exists for buying the latest model ensures that the secondhand stuff can be bought for a reasonable price.

    I'm not brand driven, but they are noticeably smoother to work on.

    People who wear obviously visible brand names on the clothes. So the first thing you see is Gucci, for example. It's reasonable to assume that without even talking to you, the first thing they want you to know about them is they wear Gucci. That's a -1 in my book.

    Similar with most conspicuous consumption Range Rovers are a big negative in my book.

    I've never taken part in the iPhone vs Android wars. I've only ever had 3 smart phones since I goty forest one in 2012 and they've been 2 Android and 1 Apple. I've always had a flip case on my phones anyway so nobody knows what brand I'm using.

    Any of the Specially Selected range aren't cheap but usually are good gear.

    A lot of you may do it without realising.

    Advertising is very subtle and will influence you without your knowledge or realisation. Many times it will work subconsciously.

    This is true, to a point. But it has always been overstated enormously by Advertisers who are attempting to Advertisine their value to clients.
    I'd struggle to think of a product I spend my money on because of an Advertisement. Usually I rely on research, particularly online research.

    This is my point. A lot of advertising appeals to your subconscious mind.

    The amount of subliminal advertising is incredible. I imagine that this is understated by the industry if anything

    They certainly aren't understating, first and foremost they're advertising to potential clients, which is why they talk up their Jedi mind tricks so much (the effectiveness of which conveniently cannot be accurately measured). It certainly has an effect, and had even more of an effect in the past - the high point of branding in the 1990s and 2000s was well covered by Naomi Klein's No Logo. People have moved on though. An internet savvy and better educated market that grew up with Advertising is better able to filter it out. Look at most Ads we have now and they don't have much artifice to them; it's typically either describing a "deal", shouting at you or using a jingle to stick in your head. A lot of "subliminal" advertising gets lauged at for its lack of subtletly, like your man cracking Heino's at the climax of a James Bond film.

    I don't think the Heineken in a film is meant to be subliminal. It's more about overall branding and keeping the brand current, it's in a film, tomorrow it's the ad one sees, it's the Heineken Cup. I think it's part of an overall brand reinforcement rather than being subliminal. I think the subliminal is the way the e's appear to be smiling.

    Staying on beer, no amount of "beech wood aged", clydesdales or a classic blues riff will convince me Budweiser isn't p!ss.

    First they came for the socialists...

    Its remarkable how fanatical some Android users are. The mere existence of a different kind of device and OS drives them wild.

    But I dont judge an Android user by his brand, I have had one myself, but the anti-Apple guys with their spittle flecked arguments are a bit much.

    Couldn't agree more. Most American beers but Bud in particular. Dreadful stuff. I'm not a craft beer type either, Carlsberg or something from Czech Rep and surrounds does me.
