I have been wearing masks for the big shop. They are awful. I feel like gaging when wearing one.

I am less likely to do discretionary shopping because of masks.

They are a pain. I don't think anyone that advocates for the masks actually like wearing them. The warm weather doesn't help, or if you are in a rush, they will feel more warm and uncomfortable. I see them as a necessary evil really. And like you I'm spending wasting less money too.

You can choose not to go into the place where masks are mandatory. That's your self imposed restriction.

Yes we all had restrictions. However, cocooners had additional ones imposed on them that you didn't have.

Don't be absurd. That is not a choice. Imposing masks is imposing a restriction.

You know nothing of me and which restrictions applied to me.

Is wearing pants a restriction as well?

Well guys just after reading last few pages here, had to take a bit of time off from this thread, because stupidity of some posts was giving me mental issues :D
Think I have great masks for some here, might even supply them for free for all selfish ignorant posters

What kind of mask and how are you wearing it?
First time I tried one of the blue surgical masks I found it very unconfortable.
    Glasses steaming up.

I didn't realise there's a little metal strip in the top layer of the mask. You form it around the bridge of your nose. Also, I find glasses don't steam up if I breathe from my nose.

Now when I wear the mask in the shops it's not much bother.

    What question?

    This one:
Tell me, if we're lucky enough to get a vaccine for Covid-19, should mandatory mask wearing continue in order to protect those who are vulnerable to other infections?

I have been wearing masks in busy shops and place I can't distance. I'm wondering is it ok to pop into places where it's just one staff member totally distanced from you for example? I don't mind wearing the mask but I find here as it's not always it's hard to decide on sometimes. I do find it a little off putting also being the only one wearing it often . I would feel more comfortable that it was effective if the other people were wearing them too, hard for staff on long shifts but why are so few Irish wearing them? In the USA this is a big issue but here it almost seems worse. Very few I see are wearing them.

What's wrong with wearing a mask to protect others from other infections, like colds and flu? It doesn't have to be mandatory, do it out of the kindness of your heart. Why do you feel so strongly to infect others?

Look around you. The majority of people are now getting on with their lives. If you have a gripe about how the vulnerable have been treated in all of this take it up with the nursing/care homes. That's where the failure to protect the vulnerable took place.

    What was that failure Pheep?

Gwan say it, HCW's were not wearing masks.

Mandatory masks should apply when there's a pandemic.

Why are you arguing about a future hypothetical when science shows that wearing a face mask *now* works to reduce the amount of COVID19 infections?

Just wear the damn mask. Jesus - you'd swear people were being asked to wear a clamp on their genitals.

Did you wear a mask to protect others out of the kindness of your heart before covid?

I'm going to pre-empt your reply as being no, so when there's a vaccine and its rolled out you'll keep wearing one to protect people from head colds ?

I'm sorry but its impossible to take that seriously. When a suitable treatment and or vaccine is developed mask wearing won't be a thing

Before all this, I would continue on into shops and chemists with a cold. Not anymore, when all this ends, I'll continue on with masks when I have a cold or flu.

I never wore a mask before covid because there was never a huge campaign to cover up and contain our colds.

This whole pandemic has made me more aware and when all this is over, I will continue with wearing masks if I have a cold.

We all keep learning mate. We might as well follow some Asian countries and wear them when sick with flu or cold. Might make a difference..

I asked because I believe that there is an agenda with some people to make mask wearing mandatory in certain situations indefinitely. I have no desire to infect others.

That was certainly one of the failures. Wearing a mask in a healthcare setting, however, cannot be compared to mandatory mask wearing in general society.

?? Think you might be overthinking this a bit. We are in stage of very low confirmed cases and I believe we all want to keep low numbers. So masks looks like to be the least invasive "restriction" to be applied to keep them numbers low. No tin foil hat theories behind that.

No one has an agenda to make masks mandatory forever. We're in a pandemic, masks help. And yes you do have a desire to infect others with your refusal to wear a mask.

And again masks works in healthcare care settings, but magically that effect disappears outside hospital walls, yeah right

Desire? Really? What an appropriate username.
