The countries and US states Kermit quotes are in wave 1 which I’m sure he’s aware. We didn’t hear about them when Europe was very high...

It’s like RTE - fear, fear, keeping living in fear.
Remember when George Lee said further lifting of our restrictions was ‘scary’? At a handful of cases per day..Time to turn off Clare Byrne too and her ‘Amárach’ polls...I would love to see a fact check on those, Time to live.
Let’s not forget many hospitals have been empty throughout this crisis, we need to get on with dealing with the other medical issues which are piling up by the day.

He is posting factually correct information that many posters find interesting. What is happening in the Americas is absolutely central to Covid 19 now. This is the general Covid 19 thread right?

People see what they want I'm afraid. Unfortunately we are headed the wrong direction and lockdown is inevitable again sooner than we think.

Lockdown will not happen again in anything but a localised manner. What tells you we are heading in the wrong direction?

Have you a link to that because it's BS (Prof O'Neill is never one to change his mind depending on what is happening)

Simple example - we get jabs for common stuff like measles, it never has a chance to infect us but guess what - it gives us immunity for life

I won't even go in to the other studies showing the common cold gives us antibodies to fight off coronavirus
Recent studies are showing that asymptomatic people are having a far lower immune response to Covid. I'm not sure what an entirely different disease like measles has to do with Covid, but I presume it means something to you. There is speculation (speculation) some of the coronavirus-causing cold infections may provide some level of protection against Covid, but this is not proven yet.

" These data suggest that asymptomatic individuals had a weaker immune response to SARS-CoV-2 infection."

Judging by myself over the last 2 days its hayfever

Hot days followed by cold nights too. I got a bit of a throat on me the other few days but had enough cop on to realise it was just from the changeable weather. Gone now.

What in the **** are you on about? Ireland is trending the right way in every single Covid-related metric, we are not headed in the right direction.

Mexico reports over 5,000 new cases and 947 new deaths.

The situation with COVID around the world is out of control.

There is a lot of self delusion and happy talk going on around Europe that is not matched by the reality of the situation which is on the wrong side of grave.

How some can not see this is beyond me.

Pandemics are usually out of control by definition.

Its very easy to see why flights arnt safe. The hepa system is not safe at all. You know that this just flows in and out of the plane. I know you can find out that this isnt safe. Lots of people on here read your posts and believe in you. You know it isnt safe for people to fly. Why arnt you saying this. I suppose nurses dont matter to you either is it?

The air in a airplane cabin is a clean as the air in an operating theatre.

Why are people in a panic over the situation in Brazil/India/Mexico ?
Lockdown was never going to work there, they're not exactly first world countries ...

How does that mean Europe will start going mad again ?
Localised outbreaks here (spain) too, but they are being controlled.

Posting that at 2am. Get some sleep. Everyone on this thread is well aware of the situation worldwide. You only update it every hour or so. People are trying to be positive maybe after a tough few weeks for us all. Nothing wrong with that and I'm not sure others people's mental state bothers you. Their is not self delusion in Ireland for the vast majority of the population either and their is data on movements etc to back this up.

Finding out news around the world is depressing with this Covid19, it's something I try to avoid. But I do like how I can still come in here and still find out little bits of information from around the world and what's happening elsewhere. There's no harm in knowing this. If it's for your mental health and positivity, maybe stay away from this Covid19 thread, it's clearly affecting you.

Maybe or maybe not - to be fair no one knows for sure - its why everything is gradual, so we can roll back if needed.

Question: Is it better to open up a bit and lockdown again if needed or to just stay in lockdown?

IMO Keep relaxing and react quick to any localised clusters is the way to go. Keep learning from others (especially winter rolls around).

Why is it depressing? Any more than that there is war and famine in other parts of the world.

Unless Trump does a smear job on Joe Biden it`s looking more and more likely that he will be leaving the White House next January.

    Trump will stroll the election.

Lockdown will not happen again in anything but a localised manner.

    That's the hope, that's not a fact.

"Lockdown" or restrictions will happen to some degree nationally if emergency care looks like it could collapse.

We are a small island that take a few hours to drive across, "local" is relative.

At 14 points adrift and over 60% thinking he's done a poor job with the ongoing pandemic, probably very unlikely.

Its not clearly affecting me at all. Yea its about balance as has been stated. Im not the one staying up at 2am and moaning about people being deluded which is quite frankly very strange. Theirs clearly a negativity bias with some posters. Germany's 2nd wave is not happening either. The r rate has dropped down to 0.7 . The media did not give proper context to that story. Clearly negativity bias is pretty common with anything Covid related. Im aware of whats going on but it may affect others.

Won't make an ounce of a difference to the vast majority of people in this country which of them wins it although from RTE and this site, you would think its more important than our own Government.

Why are you upset over someone posting at 2am? People do have different sleep patterns and suffer from insomnia. Nothing wrong with that.

Just popped in here, now and read this post first. Whatever your point is, your undermining it with this. Maybe you only ever travel business class, but in cattle class it takes considerably longer than 5 mins. If your argument isn't strong in itself, it is not a good idea to make obviously false exaggerations.

Think it was directed at Kermit

Why did you respond to my post if you've no idea what I'm talking about? What's a false exaggeration?

    Trump will stroll the election.

I guess he will, given that he is morbidly obese, he'd prob. have to sit down for half an hour if he tried anything faster.
