I think that there is a concern that we are missing cases.....that they shouldn’t be this low and there are asymptomatic people out there. We know (or at least have strong circumstantial evidence) that COVID was here for a number of weeks before the first formally diagnosed cases and deaths, and that we might be in the same position now as we were in Dec / Jan. Not sure that I buy that myself, but makes sense to ramp up testing

Just on my previous point, I think the testing criteria has changed again. A friend of mine was tested today because he had an ear infection. I reckon doctors are advising everyone to get tested as of this week.

They literally seem to be testing anyone who wants one. Dose of hayfever heres a test

This seems a very odd hypothesis that COVID 19 can trigger diabetes.
Paul Zimmet, who studies the metabolic disease at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, is among a growing number of researchers who think that diabetes doesn’t just make people more vulnerable to the coronavirus, but that the virus might also trigger diabetes in some. “Diabetes itself is a pandemic just like the COVID-19 pandemic. The two pandemics could be clashing,” he says.

The right decision. I say test anyone and everyone. I'd take a fortnightly test if I could get one.

    92% recovery rate again today, so (25,396 * 0.08 = 2,032 - 1,726 deaths) approximately 306 active cases:

    https://www.rte.ie/news/ireland/2020/0624/1149433-covid-ireland-update/

    This.

306 active cases is great, before they updated it previously, the active cases were in or around the 750 mark.

It's the way I go I think. Better to catch more negatives than potentially miss out on positive cases

What's wrong with that? Two hairdressers in America and their doctors telling them they had allergies, turned out it was Covid19.

I've to go to the hospital friday for treatment and I'm bunged up with either blocked nose or runny nose. Getc a cough sometimes with it. Hospital said to wear a mask in there.

9 in ICU and 37 in Hospital. Now is the time for a discussion on how to keep these numbers very low not just hope for the best. Hopefully have learned some lessons. Great to see such low numbers tho and would be great if we can sustain that

Where did I say anything was wrong with that ? It was a statement, I was offered one myself and didn't take them up on it.

You always look for the negative in every statement.

Yup, may as well use some of the capacity that's there

Well you seem to have an issue with taking a test with hayfever symptoms. The virus can show up in so many ways.

You're not legally required to take a test, you can say no, believe it or not.

    5 new cases, great news

I now expect to hear about an outbreak of 10 new cases in northwestern Guam

And do you know a positive thing about that case..they dont appear to infected any of their 140 customers due to everyone wearing masks.

That was a while ago now anyway. At least where I am, you don't need symptoms to take a test, or to even go to a doctor. Just go to one of several drive through testing sites. And its free.

I've had hayfever for the last few years so I know exactly what it is when I have it, itchy eyes constantly aren't a symptom of covid. Like i said a stronger anti allergy tablet has helped me.

Yigo on Guam had 34 cases but they have all recovered.

The total Air Force servicemembers infected with coronavirus reached 37. The cluster in the Air Force unit that was housed at the Guam Reef Hotel reached 35 infected.

All members of the unit were tested and put in mandatory quarantine on Andersen Air Force Base. Several airmen reportedly violated orders limiting their movement to the hotel and their work on base, and potentially exposed local businesses and employees. DPHSS was notifying businesses and planned to conduct testing of potentially exposed employees.

Rear Adm. John Menoni, Joint Region Marianas Commander, stated, "Today we don't have all the facts as to how and why. We know we have an issue, we are working to find solutions, we need to fix this problem."

Yesterday a positive test came back for someone with no known contact with other confirmed COVID cases.

Overall Guam has had 226 cases with 174 recovered and 5 deaths.

    ;)

Some really really good vaccine news today. The world's 1st inactivated COVID-19 vaccine produced antibodies in all participants in Phase I/II trials.

"The Phase I/II clinical trials of the world's first inactivated COVID-19 vaccine, developed by Wuhan Institute of Biological Products under the China National Biotec Group (CNBG) affiliated to the China National Pharmaceutical Group (Sinopharm), produced antibodies in every participant, it was announced on Tuesday.

According to a meeting held simultaneously in Beijing and Henan province on Tuesday, the clinical trial results showed that the vaccination was safe without any serious adverse reaction, and after different procedures and different doses of vaccination were adopted, participants in the vaccine group all produced high titers of antibodies. Good news indeed.

I am sure the irony isn’t lost on anyone . Hope they don’t manage to lose this one before they get to unleash it on the world 🤞.

It's just a waiting game now to be honest. As Dr. Fauci said, it's when, not if. Back to the containment phase.

Saw Dr. Fauci in US too saying it could be ready by end of this year/start of next. Might be a bit optimistic but good sign either way!

Looks like they will be making face coverings mandatory on public transport and reducing the 2m rule to increase capacity to 50%.

Not sure what happens if someone doesn't. Could may be police on entry on Dublin Bus but not Luas or Dart.

And that's just the American one. Things are really really looking up on the vaccine front.

Needs to be done to increase capacity safely, but I don’t envy bus drivers policing it.

Yeah it's a lot quicker than I was expecting. Think expectations were managed with people saying it may not work or could take a lot longer but guess way it was a global pandemic so literally whole world invested in getting one asap helped!

Yeah it's not really in their job description to be fair but not sure how else they will enforce it bar just hoping everyone complies with it.
