I had this in mind, and was carrying extra masks in case I saw them. But the day I went out with a different bag, I forgot to carry them with me and then I see them again.

    OK. I believe you.

You have an answer for everything: no matter how implausible

I don't know where they live or where to drop off masks for them. Are there any causes or charities for helping people in need like this?

That's fair enough. I don't think specifically but think there are ones you can buy made by people in direct provision where you pay to buy one for someone there.

Maybe St Vincent De Paul might be able to provide them to people who need it?

Think government should be providing reusable ones to organisations and groups for people who can't make or buy their own at this point. Wouldn't cost a whole lot in the scheme of things.

I'm a week out of work. Was given no notice, and you want me in a job the day after leaving one job?

But yeah, this pandemic has brought some selfish people and I'm joining them, I'm not going to put myself at extra risk.

I was going to ask if you're happy to stay on the dole, why look for advice on job interviews in the work forum? But perhaps you decided against looking for work.

    Get a new hobby.

Not a hobby as such. Merely calling you out for what I believe you are. And what I think other posters believe you are

Great detective work. If you go back, you'll also find me talking about my new job offer as well.

Edit: done the work for you

Fair play for acknowledging your hypocrisy and selfishness. Living off the sweat of another person's brow is prehaps one of the clearest examples of selfishness a person can display.

You’ll get the virus from that!!!!

Anyway, it is still great to see such low positive cases again. Long may it continue.

Careful you don't get a warning for naming the obvious.

If I get a ban or a warning then so be it. But nonsense like that has to be called out

Ah seriously, really? How long are shopping centres open, and how long can the virus take to manifest itself? Super basic maths.

And before someone stupidly takes up what I'm saying incorrectly because they want to, I'm not saying we'll see a spike in two weeks either.

This country has been successfully isolated for the last 2 months.

Like New Zealand it's very easy to control in a small country with appropriate measures.

This won't last once people start travelling and we need to be ready to take the required measures later in the year through the Autumn.

Whether that's local initiatives or nationwide closures will depend on the nature of the resurgence when it comes.

For now, we need to make as much hay as possible while the sun shines.

Unfortunately if Finns come to Ireland or Irish come back from Finland we/they will have to quarantine for 14 days...

You'd think the 14 day quarantine would have to end pretty soon, I'm guessing July 20th at the latest. Air travel picks up, and other countries remove travel restrictions, so keeping a one-sided quarantine probably won't work. But let's see.

Like clockwork at this stage. Many challenges ahead yes, but in a great position to keep suppressing this. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best

leo just said they report deaths as Covid if suspected but not backed up by the lab. I'd love to know to what extent that happens, I'd say a lot more than they let on,

It's possible we could have 0 people in ICU within the next two weeks. Unlikely, but possible.

I know anecdotally of at 2 least people whose family are considering legal action to have covid removed from the death certificate. They have already asked to no avail.

One had terminal cancer, another chronic heart disease and both died in the main of those causes.

Not at all. Deaths are registered as Covid related if suspected by the certifying doctor and counted. Denotification's are generally admin adjustments. Hence the difficulty in comparing death rates by country.

Denotifications are normally where people were recorded more than once.

Realistically there are probably a significant number of people who didn't die from COVID included in our figures.

Absolutely. Many died with Covid but not necessarily from Covid.

Another statistic which seems to be barely mentioned is that, as of yesterday, there's still a further 137 suspected cases in hospitals.

I don't think nationwide closures will be on the cards again.

Possibly local ones but hopefully with contact tracing up to speed, having the app rolled out, people very aware of symptoms, social distancing, washing hands, cough and sneeze etiquette, more people working from home, people strongly encouraged not to go to work when sick etc this all means that we stay on top of it.

You yourself compared why someone would go to Madrid yesterday over Galway

You are just showing yourself up to be completely and utterly disingenuous .

    My comments regarding Madrid...

“I just looked at 4 nights in what was a Radisson hotel here next June...962 euros.

I then compared it to one in Madrid which I’ve stayed in... 429 Euros.

    Both hotels central.”
