You can't make a blanket statement about the entire country, as you did previously, based on what you see in whatever town you're in. The vast majority of the country maintain social distancing. Anything over 50% compliance acts as a major, major deterrent to the virus.

You’ve just made a blanket statement? How do you know?

Because we reported 13 cases today not 13,000

Yeah but as I’ve said I’m more interested in the future potential than the present.
As I’ve said we are grand now.
We are opening up and not restricting travel from hotspots.
    Logically what will happen?

    I'm absolutely disgusted.
My teenage boy (a quiet, respectable lad) was on a shop today, at the counter paying.
Three undesirable looking women in their 20s got right up behind him and one coughed at his back, no shield from her elbow etc, and laughed.
He's too quiet to call them out.
    Cretins. Lucky I wasn't there.
Is there any recourse in the (hopefully unlikely) event that your son got sick?? Is it too far to go to suggest that they should be arrested if they do that to someone and they get ill from it? Worse than that was happening throughout the peak, the lady in the train station in Liverpool who died because an infected cúnt coughed on her. That resulted in a prison sentence. The creepy fooker on the train in Belgium coughing into his hands and wiping it all over the bus pole as well...

So many insane d!ckheads out there and now just having them cough at you is a risk. In normal times I'd have no problem defending myself with force if threatened, but that is obviously not an option here.

Logically based on what's happening in other countries we will have minor clusters in different areas, and not have all out armageddon

The new plan for the 29th June certainly seems to have brought out the fear mongers on boards tonight

The Plague plus the Internet would of caused mass global suicide I reckon.

Nor did I infer we would have all out Armageddon. That’s a childish remark.
The fact is we will be importing cases so our case level will rise meaning this triumphant tone is a bit premature no?

You're acting as if Ryanair will be doing €5 deals from Brazil with full flights. I highly doubt there'll be many people visiting Ireland this year.

From the uk? Business? How about Germany?
How about people from Germany that may have interacted with people from a direct flight from Brazil in the airport?

Citizen I refuse to accept you haven’t realised the serious potential of this!

Again I have never infered Armageddon I would appreciate if you could acknowledge this.

Air bridges will only be between countries that have the same or similar infection rates. I’d say quarantine will still be in place from high risk areas.

What if one country peaks on one side of an air bridge, but because of incubation period a weeks worth of people have gone through onto the other side of the airbridge?

What if a load of people came from Dublin to my town?

Brazil is still a developing country, this has to be kept in mind.

Not great employment opportunities in Portugal - known a few Brazilians, one lasted a month when he decided to try Portugal and straight back to Ireland
Here they can find a job in a bar the day they arrive

Pull factor as I thought. But they must need a visa of some sort, presumably language school. But they are all closed now I think.

This country is wide open to anyone. We think we are oh so great and right on, but honestly, wtf is happening here. I am guessing that most Brazilians are ten to a room.

Go back to Portugal ha ha.

Brazil Explanation: states like Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro had problems with registering new cases in the past 2 days. The system went back online today and they then reported a huge amount of accumulated cases.

Still massive daily numbers even before today , really shocking .

You're literally thinking of worst case scenario. Air channels to countries with low prevelance are currently being considered. We've had flights to the US running everyday since the beginning of this ffs.

They don’t have to. One person from your town goes to Dublin.

As Chris Hatfield (Canadian astronaut and legend) would say prepare for the worst hope for the best.
Any government not preparing for the worst is lacking in a proper risk assessment for this virus.

What is Ireland's Infection Rate right now? What is the UK's infection rate right now?

The infected Brazilian coming to Ireland via Germany is a risk. But one that we can manage. The numbers will be small and we will have to learn to deal with isolated clusters and individual spreaders. Perhaps for many years. To close down our borders in the way that you want would be a completely disproportionate response to that risk

You’re talking shyte. Johnny and Mary live in Dublin. Coughing and spluttering. Johnny says lets go to Galway for a holiday. Johnny and Mary then hop on a Bus Eirean that’s full and go to Galway shopping, wining and dining and hitting the pubs. You can guess the rest.. No different than someone visiting from a country with the same R number. Infact you’d be safer on the plane than on a bus.

Oh for gods sake read my posts. I’ve already said I’m not advocating a second lockdown it’ll kill the economy. I’m saying numbers will go up. We need to be ready!

proberly too simple a solution. Everyone from Ireland books out every hotel, hostel, bnb, campsite, caravan park for the rest of the year for staycations. Then wont be any room
for tourists from high risk countrys? Not a perfect solution but would help?
