Depends on where you are. We were in town today and the vast majority were keeping the 2m - even following the one way pedestrian system in place . When it got tight people stepped asked, or on the the road, to make room.

    Town where? Dublin City centre?

When Irish leader does it.. it's humour. When British or American does it.. he's a Nazi.

Leo has more license to do it because his spoofology levels have been considerably lower (not at zero mind) in this whole crisis and in general than those ****wits.

    What?
There’s no fear. It’s just I’m not naive enough to think we are somehow going to magically keep this virus out of Ireland when tourists and business travellers start coming back in from infected countries and we have fully opened up our “lockdown”
I’m not saying we should keep the lockdown going, far from it. It’s killing the economy but it is inevitable (yes use that gif of agent smith if you want) that the virus numbers will go back up when travellers from different country’s come here. This will then lead to spread within the community.
Anyone who doesn’t understand this, well ....... fine. They just don’t understand it.
So roll your eyes all you want.
Will I put you in the naive bracket?

Tbh this is my feeling as well. It started off as me being overly anxious about the virus itself and how it may effect my family or me. Now I realise I’m very low risk, mid 30s and healthy, family should be ok too. But that fear has been replaced with a fear others being so overly complacent that it throws away everything we’ve done and completely ****s the economy.

I hope there isn’t another wave, but I’m struggling to see how it can’t happen looking at other countries (US/Iran, etc) and I understand people say there can’t be another lockdown, as people won’t stand for it, but what other choice is there in the case of a second wave?

I’m optimistic that hopefully we can dampen down waves with tracing and isolating, but I do still overthink the case that if we lose grip on the tracing/isolating part, what might happen then.

Isnt it sad as a nation that we want intricate details of how the pubs will operate but throw caution to the wind about wearing facemasks

That Brazil number is incredible. Jaw-dropping.

    Afraid it is.

The WHO said today the situation was out of control in Latin America and not just in Brazil

Peru, Chile, Colombia and Argentina are also experiencing a big surge.

Why this is important for Europe is the seasonal aspect. We won't know for sure until late in the Autumn obviously but South Africa and South America getting hit really badly on a scale nowhere else has seen, not even the United States.

Piss poor leadership also playing it's part clearly.

Yep. What’s Argentina’s stance on this though are theyvtrying to lockdown and flatten the curve?
Without Ireland shutting down airports and ports there is no way of stopping us importing this virus.
Not saying it’s the right thing to do but common sense says if you allow people from infected countries in you will become an infected country.

No, Bolsanaro is actively discouraging any major containment efforts

Case numbers in Brazil today are crazy. I assume they will break 2k deaths today in the nighttime update today

The president (or Trump tribute act) seems content enough with the mass graves being dug in the Amazon.

Not sure much of the population will see it that way.

    Yep FairPlay.
It’s a hard one to comprehend but I honestly can’t agree with people thinking we are through the worst and then singling people out when they give factual reports that they deem negative.
I personally think we could be in for a tough time in autumn/winter and a lot maybe down to people not wanting to lockdown again. Even more will be down to us importing cases from the likes of Brazil USA uk Iran etc etc.

Brazil Explanation: states like Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro had problems with registering new cases in the past 2 days. The system went back online today and they then reported a huge amount of accumulated cases.

I'm in Cork City and see a lot of compliance. You know not everybody in Ireland is a thicko, right?

Wonder why they don't like Portugal in favour of Ireland so. We must have the pull factor for them, but not sure what it is. Maybe as English Language students, they can work x number of hours or something. Dunno.

But for sure there are LOTS of Brazilians here. Fair dues to them, playing the game on us, when Portugal is just down the road with the same lingo and all that.

Absolutely I can only comment on what I’ve seen and what I have been told.
But again it only takes a small minority to spread this unfortunately

I am in Dublin . People all around me are keeping distance . Neighbours chatting with 2 m between them , queues in supermarkets with 2m distance . People stepping aside in parks and on paths .

Not great employment opportunities in Portugal - known a few Brazilians, one lasted a month when he decided to try Portugal and straight back to Ireland
Here they can find a job in a bar the day they arrive

You can't make a blanket statement about the entire country, as you did previously, based on what you see in whatever town you're in. The vast majority of the country maintain social distancing. Anything over 50% compliance acts as a major, major deterrent to the virus.

NO NO NO people are obeying 2m SD rules! Sure certain posters are claiming this!!

Maybe not where you are living tom. I walk 6/7 km every day, meeting a fair amount of people. Almost all, including myself, are still doing the "I stepped out and you stepped in again" thing. I exclude from this the cyclists. Other than them, I see a huge compliance of SD.

Really? And in supermarkets the same? question for buses the same?
I’d respectfully disagree. But that just my experience.

Good to know. I can only relay my experience. Some people do SD some people don’t. But it only takes one person to potentially pass on the virus if they don’t SD.

All the blame here rests with the government.

The mixed and confused messaging. The media briefings from the outset saying that masks weren't necessary and the research is mixed on it.

No wonder the public here have no desire to wear the masks.

No one has cared in supermarkets in general - I'm in Dublin city center and people are still observing it to some degree
Even when I was walking thru parks the other day everyone was staying away from other groups

The new plan for the 29th June certainly seems to have brought out the fear mongers on boards tonight

People are definitely still keeping their distance in supermarkets. I've been in a few this week and people have been keeping clear of each other and not approaching the checkout until they are told to.
