If alot of the scumbag and scrote elements could be subjected to a firm kicking when required the country would be an awful lot better imo

I take it you've been asleep for the last three weeks or so.

    RIP to the Garda.

Very sad news to wake up to. Rip to the Garda and condolences to his family and colleagues

    Very sad news RIP.

There was a report last week where two detectives were assaulted by a gang of youths and one of them tried to take one of the detectives gun while attacking him.

Quiet scary now that this seems to have happened in this case and lead to the murder of a Garda.

If these animals think it’s ok to try and take a Garda’s gun they need to be locked up for life 23 hours a day until the day they die.

Murder of a guard should mean life in jail, you're never getting out.

May this poor man RIP, so sad for his family, to go to work and not come home.

Is this comment related to BLM?

If so, there is a world of difference between law enforcement consistently and deliberately targeting one ethnicity for decades and some scumbags over here getting a well deserved few slaps.

If its not related to BLM then I havnt a clue what you mean.

Reading the news there. Apparently he was on his own on a routine patrol and stopped and approached someone on the street. The incident got physical for whatever reason and the Guards weapon allegedly got into the hands of the shooter and a number of shots were fired. Whatever the circumstances, its horrible news.

One of the most difficult, unappreciated jobs in the country.
Poor man and his family, sad times.

Reports say a man in his 40’s is in custody, not a youth

Third Garda from Castlerea station to be murdered on duty. Detective John Morley and Garda Henry Byrne murdered in 1980.

Any one who kills a Garda should be never let out again.
It's shocking, in the line of duty and this happens.
My Dad worked in the department of justice and as a kid I remember a lug trying to aggitate dad one evening in Limerick, let's just say we were lucky..
I'll never forget it, but dad's a gentleman but a hard man behind his calm exterior...

Very sad and I hope it's a wake up call, no Gaurd should patrol on their own as it's honestly too much of a risk.

Condolences to the family and friends.

I think anyone who kills anyone should be locked up for life.

I feel sorry for the family. If the law keeps allowing people attack who they want and get away with it, certain individuals are just going to escalate it.

AGS are being treated like sh1t on a shoe because no matter what they do to stop, arrest and prosecute crime, the next level of the system fails us all.

The circumstances to this just don't seem plausible. Sounds like a movie script.

Leave it out. An entire country is enveloped in protests about police brutality and people like you don't get the message. Lets turn the Gardai into a militia clobbering scallys off the back of a tragedy; fantastic idea.

Just leave it out and show some respect to the deceased.

So he wasn’t actually called out to a domestic? Thought the initial reports were strange, not likely an armed guard would be dispatched to a domestic.

Independent states it was a call out he attended alone.

The RTÉ article above seems more like he stumbled across an incident/domestic, though its not clear. Earlier reports seemed to indicate he was dispatched, though they weren’t clear either.

i heard a domestic where a knife was produced so became an armed incident necessitating an armed response

That would imply that there were Gardaí already at the scene though. I thought he was the only one there.

The judges keep letting them down , they're bringing scumbags to court and the judges hand out Mickey mouse sentences , I've a uncle who was a Garda and after the stories he was telling I wouldn't do that job for love nor money. Rip

Just goes to show how the very presence of a gun can escalate an incident.

    🙈🙉🙊
