What's Tony on about, the worst is over worldwide, time to move on.
They want it as low as possible by the time we get to the end do Phase 4. Just being consistently cautious. He'll still be saying it anyway when we are out of it!

Every country has shown the same trend. It plateaus, and it dies.
That was always the case - the question was how high was it going to reach before it plateaus. In some countries and regions the top of that curve was pretty devastating.

The next question is will we see repeated waves of infection - and we still don't know the answer to that, but based on current evidence which is that the virus is still around, and still spreading when given the chance, the current models would say a second wave is likely if we don't work to prevent it.

Some people argue this won't happen, but they base this argument on "common sense" and in one case "dark matter" which isn't very convincing. I'm reminded of those wildlife videos where someone grabs a crocodile - once you've restrained the beast you're not inclined to let go of the thing just because someone says "ahh it will probably be fine".

The trends with the virus in this country are very positive atm. Hopefully some sort of normality can resume with gatherings, sports and schools if trends continue

Well the worldwide case numbers can hardly drop can they?

New cases *per day* keep reaching new records, ~140,000, seems the vast majority in the America’s and Southern Asia. Europe is decreasing thankfully, in the region of ~15k per day and that is including a very consistent 8k or so from Russia.

It's complete nonsense to claim that 1.7 million people are wearing face coverings, it's clearly nowhere near that.

34% of respondents saying they are wearing masks gives you that number. That is 1.7m people. Completely unconvinced by it myself and it's not what I've seen at any point.

Wonder what roadmap looks like beyond phases say when could travel be allowed in our out of country? Or when could mass gatherings be allowed? Guess re-importation of cases from abroad always likely. Hopefully we catch any cases early and contact trace quickly. Can't see that there would be a full lockdown (knock on wood) unless things get very bad. Maybe regional or town lockdown if it came to it.

The zero reported is not a surprise, and great to see.

I do take it with a pinch of salt though, figures on a Monday can always be a little askew because it’s after the weekend.

you were here last week saying the same stuff and expecting a large jump in cases after last Monday and that didn't happen.

Shock horror here we are again a week later

Our figures are actually really impressive for the last two weeks, I'm quite surprised in the nicest way possible.

They do surveys. I had two surveys over two weeks which included questions on wearing masks.

A clip on the news of a daughter visiting her parents in a care home was just so emotional . The daughter sat in the room but behind a special glass screen and chatted to them . Must say after months of no visitors to care homes this brought a tear to my eye .

66 cases in residential setting since Thursday

    Getting back to this

With mess up in figures last week i make cases

    Thursday 20
    Friday 23
    Saturday 24
    Sunday 8
    Today 18

    Total 93

So 66 cases in residential settings is almost 71% of all cases

    Am I wrong?

I fully agree. These online surveys are far from typical.

You'd be surprised at the demographic on surveys. The level of detail you must give is insane. Source: I do surveys for RedC.

Exactly. These are the same survey companies that do general elections etc. The sample usually matches the population.

Out and about and in shops I haven't seen that many people wearing masks. I have noticed an increase of people wearing them on Public Transport.

Once thing I've noticed is that some people will wait for the bus to arrive before putting on their mask.
