    If he's living there since 10 he should have picked up a few phrases of Russian.

    4 years in the Czech republic I learnt 400 words of vocabulary, including essential phrases such as "Pivo, prosim."

    What was the name of the journalist who wrote constantly about buying babies from Vietnam. She was dead set against it at the time....about 15 or 20 years ago.

    I think there may have been a documentary also.

    From my experience, yes, I don't find it unbelievable. However, I think he has gone about this completely the wrong way.

    No think he is in England since 10, just in Russia to collect the baby, so to speak

    It's no surprise the diplomatic corps is staffed by ineffectuals.
    They have to go somewhere, and all the plum jobs in the likes of the National Broadcaster are taken up.
