Instead of talking about the RO, what's the amount of new cases today.

Great news! If this keeps up over next few weeks it will be very positive.

Great to see such low positive cases. May those who died rest in peace.

A great moment for Ireland, everyone has tried so hard and we've lost a lot of people but single figure cases is something I didn't think I'd see.

The mind boggles, some doomsday posters will be very disappointed with those numbers.

9 new cases, if this stays in single digits and there's no deaths for the next 7 to 14 days then how can the HSE-Government justify continuing with the Lockdown?

    3 weeks since phase 1

    May 18th: 88 cases / 376 Hosp / 55 ICU
    June 9th: 9 cases / 122 Hosp / 34 ICU

The numbers of reported new cases/deaths tend always to be lower than average following a weekend. Wasn`t it just 2 weeks ago that there were zero deaths notified on the Monday followed by a rise during the following days? I wouldn`t break out the champagne just yet if I were you.

The number of swabs taken everyday for the past 4 days has been the exact same. We don't have a testing 'lag'.

I don't get posts like this. Nobody on here wants to see people die or suffer with illness. Because that's what those numbers are, people's lives not some sort of point-scoring game to bash others with.

In fairness with fewer people going to GPs over the weekend for referrals monday is usually low.
But 7 days averages pick that up, which gives great news that it has dropped by 10 from 35 to 25 between yesterday and today.

Surely you can't put a negative spin on 9 new cases?

Hasn't this negative outlook already been disproven? We had no major increase last Monday or Tuesday btw.

Can office workers go back to work?
Can you get a haircut or a tattoo?
Can you go play a GAA match?
Can I travel freely and legally outside my home county?
When a tourist comes to Ireland are they legally free to travel anywhere in Ireland and go for a pint and stay in Hotels across the country?

If you don't consider normal activities that a free society can do then what else besides being Locked down are the above examples??

For anyone who thinks there's a testing 'lag'. The number of hospital tests actually increased this weekend, and the number of tests taken everyday except Sunday (these aren't Sunday's results, we will see those tomorrow) has been consistent.

Yea like most who are unaffected by the HSE-Govt. Lockdown I can see how that can happen...

Weddings cancelled, and mourners at Funerals criminalised if they go to grieve a person who has lost their life...

Yet again the reasons for the reduced numbers get lost in the faux outrage at restrictions.

Last Monday was a public holiday meaning that Tuesday of last week was the first day of notified cases after the long weekend and so continued the trend.

There is no testing lag in Ireland. This has been said many times. The number of tests over the weekend in hospitals etc increased.
