Hmm, I'd be taking that with a large pinch of salt. The WHO have been behind the curve on this from the start.
I'd like to be wrong though

Its mad to think that this started with 1 person contracting COVID19

Well it's supposed to be a Chinese saying and it's quite ad rem -

Were they not saying last week prepare for a second wave?

It’s crazy that this has to be explained to you, but the Geneva Conventions (plural) are entirely about standards of humanitarian treatment in war. They have nothing to do with the civilian response to health crisis or pandemics. In any case, none of the restrictions introduced to curb the spread of the virus are a punishment in any legal sense of the word.
I think Spanish children, especially adolescents, would disagree with you.

They warned only today to prepare for a 2nd wave!

Can anyone find the stats for seasonal flu cases and deaths for this past winter-for Italy alone?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,079 ✭✭✭skallywag

More and more proof the measures have been a success in really suppressing the spread of the disease although seasonal factors are probably at play too.

    This is great to see.

Agree completely. It will not stop the droves of idiots droning on about how the measures were not necessary though.

It reminds me in a way of the millennium bug fear in 1999. Loads of clowns coming out afterwards saying that it was a project fear type lark, as nothing really bad happened in the end, completely oblivious to the fact that nothing happened only because action was taken.

Hadn't seen any time today. Think it was around 6ish this day last week so maybe around 6/6:15?

    9 more deaths RIP

    37 new cases, very low!

30,169 tests over past week, positivity rate of ~2%

Demand really has dropped for testing now. Spare capacity 70k if we needed it

Now 9 is a good number for a Tuesday and less than 50 new reported cases.

The sound quality is much better on Virgin.

So does that mean it’s about half the cases? These are 11am yesterday til midnight?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,865 ✭✭✭✭ACitizenErased

103 new cases in meat plants last week. That’s out of ~600.

37 in cases today is lowest number of daily cases since March 12th.

RTE must be on a time delay or different time zone! :p

Yes but maybe not half, as the number up to 11am usually would probably be quite small. That’s how they’re reporting from now on.

    Why change it? Odd.

Interesting : at least some modellers have predicted that the virus could simply burn itself out later this year due to low transmission rates worldwide

They have changed to midnight to midnight so going forward the numbers should be specific to that particular day
Todays numbers are only for a 13 HR day.

HSE reports are always to midnight - makes sense to tally with the same time frames

It’s not as if it would have changed dramatically if it went on to 11am unless they’re doing all nighters in the labs? Not sure if it’s a 24hr operation
