Age will always matter but U36 months are always in demand. Will be starting to sell in 10 to 20days myself so I flat prices around. Mine are under 30months

Have you grass? I’m tight but they’re getting 4kgs per day and a fresh paddock every day. No flush but nice pick. Not as tight as last week.

Reading in the journal that people with bigger numbers usually get a bit more, what would be classified as a big number to sell at one time?

This is it. My parent are now allowing my kids into their house as they are sick of not being able to play with them. I'm not saying it's right, but it's happening.

Id give anything for a football match at the moment, sick of looking at cows arses every evening with nothing ti look foward to .sunday is the same as monday.our gang are meetung up with their friends abit but its all outdoor stuff and small groups,2 or 3.no doubt theres some risk but its minimal

Even a junior C challenge game would do..........

30 is the region of the magic number I think

I presume a lad would get 5 cents extra so if he had 30 to sell? Or maybe more?

Do they still pay the angus bonus now and if so how much and what is the criteria regarding weights? I thought the bonus was gone for 2020

I think Slaney were actively looking for AA a few weeks ago.

The rain might help too. Lads wont be under pressure to sell with grass everywhere

Yes but the normal bonus is only 10c/Kg and is it 6 euro deducted by scheme. That is 33 euro on a 330 kg DW AA bullock minus 6 euro for scheme. Not really worth the effort and more than that is factored into AA cattle when you buy them. This is because larger finishers who finish more than 50/year get a top up and access to the early summer and autumn super bonus's

Perhaps so at the minute however a friend here asked and held out all week for 3.65 after bid 3.60 for 18 Angus heifers. Agent says no chance with the bonus. Interesting to see what happens next week.

That is another disadvantage with the bonus especially if you are on the higher bonus. They will only quote you a lower base price a lot of the time

It wasn’t a Abp or kepak or dawn factory then

    Any prices

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,835 ✭✭✭✭Water John

Some seem to disagree, saying a stronger price than quoted may be available.

The same as last week but the next thing will be a pull readier a rise at this stage in my opinion.

Pull the price to try and get cattle off the fields . That wouldn’t be a surprising tactic.Such cowboys!

Thats about the size of it but trying to be a lone ranger with a few fit cattle you could be left with egg on your face over a 5 cent and see the fckers pull them 10.
When the 1st cut silage is over I suspect there’s a strong draft of heifers and aa her type bullocks going to come.

If it turns into 2018 (drought) which there is every chance that’ll bring cattle through earlier too.

Plenty of people who left beef out of sheds for grazing in march too down here. Said the price is septic and they can't buy cattle back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,695 ✭✭✭memorystick

It the main issue with the 70-100 day system. Most years it is virtually impossible to buy cattle to replace finished cattle from March-late June. With the he numbers of young cattle back this year it will remain that way for a while.

No value out there. Marts are a good trade for sellers at the minute and any bit that looks like value on DD is gone in a few hours. Even less fancy cattle are well up on a few weeks ago.

3.60 for a few going next week. If there is another 5c rise ill get it and if not then I wont. Hopefully famous last words but I dont see any mad rise in the horizon. They may even pull 10c just to give it back again.

All McDonald's drive through restaurants to reopen next week. Bit of extra demand building.
