Why are meant plants getting infected so easily?

Probably because the bulk of their workers are Brazilian and are living 20 in a three bed house

Given the miniscule amount of new cases, R0 well below 1 for months, the closure of COVID wards in major hospitals, and people now breaking pointless restrictions, is it fair to say that almost nobody is actually listening to the HSE/Government anymore?

Get it down to zero and then we will be ready for the second wave.

I've met loads of people in the last few weeks, and while people are practising social distancing and good hygiene, the rest of this bull**** has gone out the window.

Just wondering, do the nurses still have time to rehearse their dance routines?

Serious amount of teenagers in gangs yesterday. Never mind social distancing, they were practically on top of each other. Will undoubtedly lead to the spread of covid-19 and affect the lives and livelihoods of many.
I don't suppose that any of these teenagers were amongst those who looked down on adults in their Save the Planet protest (before heading off on ski holidays).
We really need Greta Thunberg to scream 'HOW DARE YOU' to these kids

Not nobody but significantly less people than a good month ago.

But Dr Tony said there is no Virus in the general community any more?

Plus you can't really spread it outdoors anyway.

Listening to RTE news, Ministers are urging the government to adopt the WHO guidelines of 1m for social distancing instead of 2m.

Leo says he will discuss it with Chairman Holohan to see if this can be adapted.

    Who exactly is the Taoiseach?

from 2 to 1 metre would make a massive difference to pubs/restaurants/hotels etc.

Wonder would the cold working environment with fridges have anything to do with it?

Yes, I read a few weeks ago about the cool temperature and lack of ventilation in meat factories.

I would imagine a meat factory to have the same type of still cool air you would find in many church buildings.

You do realise that the Taoiseach is not a dictator and rightly takes advice form experts and other members of the government, don't you?

I'm not sure it makes a difference to many as indoor transmission is likely a lot worse than outdoor transmission.

Do you think making decisions without consulting experts shows leadership?

They work literally side by side. A meat line (boning line) is a predetermined length and this didn't change.
We aren't the only country with this issue, France also has meat factory hot spots.

Yes, the biggest lesson we've learned from this is how stupid the people we vote for are.

WHO recommends 1m, Singapore has 1m social distancing, Australia and Belgium use 1.5m

The higher ranking members of WHO are much like FIFA, they serve a purpose but I wouldn't believe a fúcking word they say.

The 1 metre restriction is great news for cafes and restaurants and pubs.

Like saying it didn't have human to human transmission and not condemning China for this. Bunch of cowboys

Didn't hear it, but it is his decision at the end of the day. He could decide to go with the WHO advice.

But they added that fit was essential, pointing out that “surgical, handmade masks, and face shields, generate significant leakage jets that have the potential to disperse virus-laden fluid particles by several metres,” and that such jets tend to be directed downwards or backwards.
Oh great, mask wearers could be shooting out streams of virus laden particles?

This is why we need proper scientific studies and not "common sense".

If we sensibly decide as a country to follow WHO guidance and use 1m rather than 2m social distancing, think about the huge amount of money already wasted by cash-strapped businesses investing in signage that says 2m! Businesses, much like private hospitals, are being taken for a ride by the HSE and their "**** Business" policy.

I'm not suggesting the Taoiseach is a dictator, quite the opposite; he is deferring those duties to the CMO and refusing to take any leadership himself.

Yes, and while it suited us to take WHO advice in March and get patted on the head for it, we now have refused to move with their advice and go with our own CMO who is still stuck 2 months in the past.

I think we are really suffering now from lack of a government and nobody willing to take any leadership.
