Which is old wives tale stuff. I had a confirmed case of swine flu. Felt weak and achy, but never took to the bed and was able to function albeit below par. The dose in January ditto(with extra dry coughing).

well then aren't you just quiet the exception to gods rule eh, :D
I think only Lex Luther can stop you Wibbs!

on a serious note, the going to bed with FLU is natures way of saying, stop the spread. you stay in bed and you're not milling round so Flu almost dies with your recovery. Cold's cannot do much damage so we all soldier on and it spreads with nothing worse than the sniffles.

I've had two bouts of Flu 18 years, last one was Aussie flu, 4 days in and I had to go the doc, ****ing horrible. Adults should not get Flu any more than once a decade, as you've been round longer. We are made of viruses too and every surface we touch we pic up more microbes and viruses but we need them. Think of what would happen if you never ever updated your computer....the first Virus would be your last most likely..... think of being out and about and being in contact with these little devils as merely updating your internal computer which strengthens your flora even.

A study of 96,032 patients, from 671 hospitals in six continents, investigating the use of hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine in the treatment of Covid-19 was published in the Lancet today.

It found that those drugs showed no evidence of benefit, but instead was associated with an increase in the risk of ventricular arrhythmias and a greater hazard for in-hospital death.

So Dr Trump and Dr Bolsonaro's recommended treatment is useless and kills people.

    Am I surprised ?

This common cold theory is very interesting. Must do some more research on it.

Did I read that it was mandatory for large hardware stores to have designated times for vulnerable customers ? I can’t find any such hours for B and Q ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,749 ✭✭✭✭ACitizenErased

    Yup, thread on it here

    Not sure on it myself.
I think it's the right move. Making it a criminal offence forces people to act, and protects the country from future foreign infections should we eliminate the virus.

Talk about closing the stable door after the horse has bolted.
The countries that introduced these measure months ago are now removing them again.

Meanwhile we are only bringing them in now when they will prove of little or no benefit.

Its mandatory to fill in the form, the gardai dont have the man power or time to be going around checking.

All too late for any of this. The EU want everyone to move together when borders start to open so can't see this lasting too long.

Pretty pointless at this stage because it cant last for long when foreign travel resumes later in the summer probably.

Simple way around it, fly in through Belfast

They are not doctors so anyone who'd take their advice is an idiot.

What's more concerning and scandalous is that 96,000 people across the world were given this medication by real doctors, making their outcomes potentially worse.

The UK just announced mandatory quarantine for 14 days starting June 8th.

Where in the phases does it deal with travelling abroad, or does it? E.G. if say France said you can travel is there anything preventing an Irish person travelling over there?

It's more stupidity. Set up a test and quarantine area, you get tested and remain in quarantine until the result of the test. If you pass off you go, if you don't then back home no entry.

    Doesn't apply to Ireland.

Either way our own one here its law to fill in the form, after that who's going to enforce it. Someone gets a call are you isolating, yeah I am, that's grand...

3 months too late anyway and lasts until middle of June around the same time as most other EU countries relax border control.

    Essentially no there isn't

Problem is that you could be tested and be negative. 2 days later if you were tested you'd be positive

It doesn't really make a difference if it doesn't apply to Ireland. If someone tries to travel from another country to here through Ireland or the UK they'll have to quarantine.

A pragmatic way to do it would be to introduce quarantine regulations for people travelling from 'High Risk' countries but not from 'Low Risk' Countries.

People with common sense were already calling for this back in February and March for travellers coming in from Italy and China for example (or coming back from Cheltenham).

Another Idea would be to sell tests in the Airport as an alternative to Quarantine. (test negative on arrival and be allowed to move around 'cautiously') then maybe be required to take another test after 7 days to be fully free to go.

Quarantining people coming in from fro example Germany, Iceland or New Zealand where the spread of the Virus has been completely limited seems absolutely daft.

Then the other issue is knowingly placing a covid suffer on board an aircraft with other pax. You might have to take responsibility for the critters

How ? Connecting flights you dont leave the airport so you don't cross the border.

What enforcement is there here, fill in the form and get a few phone calls to make sure your doing as your told.
