No mention of a cash alternative avilable.
Besides you can imagine the clientele that might show up to 'test drive' your 700 horses, or a souped-up scooby.

There's been report on this thread about cash alternative available at the trade value of the car. I can't remember what page the posts are on.
They don't run that can in a raffle because it would be bad for business and they can easily get trade value for it so they get the prize money back.

Must have missed it in the T&C's (cash alternative). It would need to be there in black and white.

Certainly do the PR photshoot for them, then ask for the wheels to be liquidated right after the camera's click.
Often there can be an advantge on book values between say eng, scot, ni due to slight regional variations and contextual factors, so could well be above market value.

What's the insurance gonna be like on an Audi that has 700 odd horses raging under the bonnet?

Most of the photos show young lads in tracksuits, so could assume it will be destined to either be raked around a field (diy rack), industrial estate in the small hours, ebayed, or else dumbed down to look like a plan A6 for stealth insurance for the afternoon commutes.

Not necessarily. I haven’t put my “work” clothes on since 13th March.
If you seen me mid week during this C19 lock down you’d think I was one of the so called people you attempt to describe.

I certainly wouldn’t be getting dressed up to collect a car.

Might get a genuine petrol head of sensible years, but might'nt be an easy sell-off regardless on a novelty hard to insure item.
Trade would take it with no issues, but at a funny price.

A rough calculation shows the big ticket items produce about 120-135% potential book value (assumes full sale),
Not really any worse than any other lotto in fairness.

When you win you either take the car or the cash alternative. Completely up to the winner.

The cash alternative is what the company can sell it back into the trade for.

Are you having trouble believing that they offer a cash alternative?

I wouldn't doubt it, it makes sense. But it's possibly it could have an impact on the legality of the raffles.

No, no impact on the legality of anything

As I understand it the offer is made by a third party (a dealer) who has nothing to do R Kings. No different to someone flagging you down on the side of the road and offering to buy your car

But pretty much everything that has been said on here is hearsay. I have no direct experience of the process, nor does anyone else here, we don’t know and it would be silly and a bit petty to jump to conclusions

6.5 There is no cash alternative for the prize, and the prize is not negotiable.

Now, if it involves a 3rd party, that's a seperate matter entirely.

There is also no indication (by way of 3rd party) that 'book value' would be used to compile such a figure. Everything not as a T&C, would thus be based on speculation, word of mouth, non-formal, gentlemanly agreements, and so on.

In light od COVID, some of ye olde car sales forecourts, might be better used just for basketball practice, and hopscotch for some months to come.

Definitely involves a 3rd party. They've posted about it before as well, one in particular was the guy who won 2 cars on the same day and they said they arranged a cash alternative for one or both cars.

So while it isn't something they 'offer' it is something they can help arrange for sure. Said guy above was also pictured with the cars before they were sold off.

Have gone in for a few, C63 a while back would have been my preference, a little more subtle than an RS6. 2k people in the draw if I’m not mistaken so chances are low, I did throw 10 in for one of the bundles too and I don’t watch the draws so if i get a call from a Newry number then it’s 50/50 for a 1k prize or 50k prize!!

Like other poster said here, I would drive it for a few weeks then sell.

Elite 100% offer the cash alternative and have posted about it on their FB pages.

This is a life changing prize and whether the winner takes the cash or the car its undoubtedly worth £5.99

Hadn't seen Elite competitions before. The seem to operate on low entry fee with many more entries. Not a bad idea as its easier to drop 2.55 or 5.99 on it.

    It’s hit and miss.
Some weeks RKings have better, others elite have better.

They are the only 2 companies I’d enter in my
    Opinion.

    Well fcuk you Duke!
I bought 3 tickets last week for the best twin cam going on Bears competitions last week promising myself it was my last entry but I just had to buy one ticket for this.
You can have a spin in it if I win though.

Also hadn't heard of Elite until the other day (this thread title is for 'RKings car raffles' afterall).

As well as the cash alternative upfront (70% ticket sale value), they indicated of having been given some BBCDragonsDen airtime
i.e. Profit driven with good investment potential for such dragons.

They'll also only run it when tickets sell out (7 day draw increase unti it does).
Sounds like a nice earner for the operators, no-risk 30% or so per draw.

It's a lottery, but not a lottery (like the buttery butter that was hard to believe it wasn't butter).

I can only assume the 30% goes towards overheads, taxes and costs of keeping the business going.

The same way my painter friend build a small % into his pricing to replace his brushes. You don’t change them after every job, but you have to price to change them regularly.

So I assume it’s like any other business out there. Profits = income - costs. Same way your local butcher works, same way the internet provider you’re using to post on this website also works.
