I spoke to a member of staff in the local Tesco. She asked not to name names but a large Dublin store had to call the guards after fights broke out over some of the sale stock. On the advice of Gardai Tesco have closed clothing sections until further notice (or people can behave themselves)

There was fights near the Tesco one in D16 too...

Food drink plus whatever is left in the small hardware/ garden stuff.

Bald men fighting over a comb comes to mind about the above.

Imagine if Penney’s opened and had a sale

I think even without a sale when Penney's opens again there will be queues a mile long and a lot of this kind of behaviour :D

I'd say there are a lot of people out there just waiting for them to open.
Always thought it strange how one of the most profitable companies in Ireland never had an online operation.

They are/were one of the only places selling clothing open for the public to go in and actually pick the clothes out

True and it's one of the few places left where there's no queues.

Off topic I know but I think Penney’s have said in the past it wouldn’t pay them to offer an online service.(You can make your own mind up about that.)
I am aware of some lady’s boutique which are open for a few hours a day with the door locked and the owner is doing admin inside and you can pop in.

Clothing section reopened Today. They were only allowing a few people into the section and people were buying bundles of stuff.

Where people were discussing why Tesco felt they had to close their clothing depts without an explanation. I provided the explanation.

50% off marked price of clothing starting today. On for a few weeks

Does anybody know if this 50% off clothing offer is still ongoing or whether it finished? I originally read somewhere that it was to run up to the 18th (i.e. today) but not sure if that includes today? TIA
