That reminds me, whatever happened to that Eurovision move Will Ferrell was making?
    It's still coming I think.
Rachael mc Adams and Pierce Brosnan in it as well!
    I think Netflix bought it

Still going ahead, will be on Netflix shortly!

RTE’s very own Derek Mooney is also making a Eurovision movie (I’m not making this up!) - a jukebox musical called ‘Hold Me Now’ in the vain of Mamma Mia.

He was on Brendan O’Connor’s radio show last Saturday looking for backing.

The first song from the soundtrack of Will Ferrell and Netflix's Eurovision movie has been released, along with the fittingly OTT title of the movie.

We now know that the movie — which will be released on June 26 — is called Eurovision Song Content: The Story of Fire Saga, with the first track 'Volcano Man' now available to listen to, and the bombastic music video is here too.

I really enjoyed that show, it wasn’t what I was expecting but it was good fun and with some emotional moments. A good deal of Irish representation, which probably befits our record in the competition.

I didn’t rate the Italian song before but his performance in the Verona amphitheatre looked epic. I’ll track it down on YouTube. I still think the winner was going to be one of the smaller nations Iceland, Lithuania or Malta.

Dustin has just appeared on BBC2, he got hell of a lot of boos

That Bucks Fizz ripping off the skirts business would get you arrested before the song was finished today.

And yet a lot of the female performers take the stage wearing less than the Bucks Fizz ladies ended their set with :)

I'm not sure I like the thought of Americans getting their hands on Eurovision, it's cheesy, the songs can be questionable, it can be annoying but it's ours.

The UK tends to give us more votes than we give them, but they did let us starve during the famine.

I know what you mean but I think eurovision are involved and in fairness that song isnt a million miles away from Norway's song last year!

There have been talks about an American version of eurovision for a long time so this might push that along.

Mans and Petra were the best hosts, followed by the Danish hosts in 2014.

Shame that Riverdance thingy never caught on.

I agree with Mans & Petra, two fantastic hosts. Love Love Peace Peace was a great interval, second only to Riverdance.

    My mistake ha.

I always get very defensive when it comes to Mans.

That Moldova double act My Lucky Day is one of my favourites. That staging was deadly.

Lill Lindfors for me was the best host ever, she hosted the contest back in 1985 and looked off her head for the whole show, she did an impromptu Dress change in front of all the viewers at the interval ,which had everyone laughing,it’s on YouTube and worth checking out,,,

Romania was excellent in 2017 with the yodelling and the very awkward kiss at the end :pac:

Didn't see much of the Shine a Light show tonight but caught the "Love Shine a Light" montage with the artists and thought it was nice, very well put together and really good of them all to participate....except it turns out they didn't quite all participate; I didn't notice at the time but Hooverphonic from Belgium weren't in the clip. Supposedly one of the members of the band said in an interview that he hated the song, so they didn't take part in it (at least that's what's been said on Twitter anyway, don't know if there's a reliable source for it). If that's true then it's a pretty disrespectful move, especially considering Hooverphonic are already confirmed as representing Belgium next year.

Oh that reminds me: in case people don't know, Daði Freyr is playing two nights in Dublin in December (COVID-19 allowing), tickets are only €15. Hopefully he'll have Gagnamagnið with him too!

My final ranking for the class of 2020 that never was :(

    12 Denmark
    10 Russia
    8 Finland
    7 Lithuania
    6 Iceland
    5 Malta
    4 Sweden
    3 Bulgaria
    2 Switzerland
    1 Ireland

Honourable mentions to Belarus, Australia, Germany, Italy, Latvia and Norway who just missed out. Probably not a coincidence that it was the Irish song that just snuck in ahead of them.

Just watched the entire performance of Diodato in Verona Arena.

It's very special, seriously hairs on back of neck stuff.

In my opinion, he'd have walked it.

They've come very close in recent years : finished second twice in the last ten years and third another year

Yeah, Italy are due a win I think. Wouldn't have minded them winning last year but Duncan was my first choice. Imagine if Soldi had won last year though, and Italy were due to host?! Would've been cancelled even sooner than it was.
