    Obsessesive much
Thanks for counting there TRB. It's appreciated. "Obsessesive(sic) much"? Now maybe, and I know this might be a stretch, but how about actually debating the points I've raised and the failings they highlight? Apparently it seems that's too difficult. It shouldn't be if you think we're doing so well and can demonstrate that.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

I thought if we quarantine and wear facemasks and get to 0 cases that we can come to an agreement with other countries that have 0 cases about opening up to each other.

So are we all to wear masks now from next week on when shopping?

There's no order to wear masks just advice. I've been wearing masks since the start of March.
Best thing about that is it has helped enormously with social distancing. The idiots seem to think I must have the virus if I'm wearing a mask.

I have some masks ordered, for myself, and for lads at work. Thou they have little interaction with the jobs they do. I will use them going shopping etc. Luckily I don't need to use public transport. The only reason I can see for not calling for the use of face 'coverings' sooner was the lack of masks?? The sooner people start using them, the more people will see it as some way normal.

Yes we can until they are clear. I'm not advocating for closing off, I want quarantine for anybody coming in so they're welcome so long as they are willing to be placed in state quarantine until such time as it's safe to let them in.

No one pays but you need symptoms and to be referred by your doc

What was the thinking behind not making face covering mandatory - at least on public transport - they obviously feel it's important enough to warrant a strong recommendation, so why the half assed approach? I don't understand that.

Nobody in public wearing face masks. Thick ***** everywhere going right up to shop workers and staff. Scary stuff. No 2m distancing.
We are headed for a second wave mark my words.
And a second wave will be even harder. They can't close things again.

Second wave will he a disaster if it's bad. A second lockdown will be much worse for the economy because it f rates uncertainty into the future. It's one of the reasons I'm not happy about this phased reopening as things stand. I want quarantine for all incomers and facemasks by law in shops, urban areas, public transport etc. That'll prevent a second wave.

Jesus lads. Yous come across as people afraid of their own shadows. A bit of perspective - most of us won't get it, and most of us who do will survive. That doesn't mean I don't care about nursing homes/vulnerable etc. - that of course needs to be managed better.

But ffs, calm down a bit. My 80 yr old mother is calmer than the lot of ye.

Your 80 year old mother has lived 80 years though. Younger people have underlying conditions too and want to protect themselves from the further compounding illnesses which are knock-on effects with this illness. What a full recovery looks like a year on is not yet known.

Some people really don't like being told what to do.
"Don't go more than 2km for exercise."
"Let me dust off my hiking boots that I've not worn in six years, and go stick it to the man."

The government should have just said masks work amazingly well but are illegal to wear due to not being able to track our faces in public. Everyone in the country would have been clamouring for them.

"What fuking guard has the right to tell me to take mine off, just so I can be tracked?!"

You do know what life expectancy is don’t you? The age that the average person is expected to live to. If all the people who in normal circumstances would live to 90 die in their early 80’s, before you know it life expectancy is 75. Do 75 year old become expendable then in your book?

All I can say is; that's a deplorable thing to say and tells us plenty about the calibre of person we're dealing with.

Have you spoken to some of the 'younger' people who have had this virus and ended up in ICU? Not a pleasant experience. But you probably don't give a damn about them either.

The face masks/face coverings are an absolute joke. It's just a recommendation to wear one. How is it ok to go out infecting people?

This is the cheapest I’ve seen masks if people are looking to buy (cheaper than lidl). Don’t know quality but might help https://www.homestoreandmore.ie/wipes-cloths/disposable-3-ply-face-masks---box-of-50/111141.html
