Has anyone noticed that de Facebook luvvies have started contradicting themselves? There are wans there with "STAY THE **** AT HOME!!!" plastered across their profile pictures while you can see from their comments that they aren't following their own advice and many have had tradesmen in doing non-essential decorating work?

Neighbours daughter had A birthday today 21 or 30 or something so they had a drive by celebration, recorded it all for facebook, parked up and all went into the house for a party.

For most of us, keeping away our distance from other people, washing our hands, sneezing into our sleeves, staying home when sick is what we need to be focused on - not all these theatrics with masks and thermometers.
The same "theatrics" that resulted in Hong Kong, right beside the mother lode, with seven and a half million people squashed together like sardines who like close contact, having 4 deaths? In a study published in April 2020 in the Lancet, the authors expressed their belief that border restrictions, quarantine and isolation, social distancing, and behavioural changes such as wearing masks likely all played a part in the containment of the disease up to the end of March.[3]

We've only done one of those things. Quarantine and isolation is either "advisory" or half arsed.

Or how about Taiwan with 7 deaths? Or closer to home the Czech Rep with 293 deaths, ten times less than our own adjusted for population. There's is over double, even if we don't adjust for population read the figure in the title of this thread and let that sink on.

Every single nation that instigated border checks, quarantine, masks, and "theatrics" like we haven't done has resulted in far fewer deaths and illness and lockdown time, when compared to us. But sure aren't we doin better than the Brits dontcha think Joe? And shure isn't Leo lovely altogether, what with his colourful socks?

Staying home when sick. Great. When since February it's been known that asymptomatic spread is a risk and each week since it has been shown to be a major one. Estimates go between 30 and 50% of all Covid infected are asymptomatic and shedding live virus until they come down with obvious symptoms or stay asymptomatic.

Sneezing into our sleeves. Think about how utterly bloody moronic that is, when the same muppets and too many ordinary Irish people seem so dead set against, or make idiotic excuses(as usual) about so many of the tools other nations have used. Apparently a "sleeve" strapped your bloody face is of little value. Unless you're already sick, or looking after someone who is, then they're only bleedin brilliant. You couldn't make it up. Oh wait the HSE gobshites did. Hell the muppets, and mediocre muppets they are, can't even make a straight directive over masks, can't seem to draught a missive that doesn't lead to confusion and have navigated our way through this crisis banging into rocks at nearly every step.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

Number of covid-19 patients in hospital down to 390, and ICU cases down to 56. 8 new admissions over the past 24 hours. All going in the right direction. It feels like we are really beating this.

We are beating it with lockdown in place. From May 18, how we behave will decide the future lockdowns or temporary closure/isolation.

The Government has today announced that we are on course to move to Phase 1 of the Roadmap for Reopening Society and Business from Monday May 18th. This is in line with advice received from the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET).

From Monday, under Phase 1, you are advised to Stay at Home, and avoid unnecessary journeys, except for the following 5 reasons:

    1. To go to work, if your place of work is open and you cannot work from home
    2. To shop for items you need
    3. To exercise within 5km of your home
    4. For medical reasons or to care for others
    5. To meet friends or family outside, within 5km of your home, in groups of no more than 4

Older people and those who are cocooning should continue to stay at home, except for brief outdoor exercise within 5km of their home.

As part of the gradual easing of restrictions in Phase 1, members of the public are being advised to use a face covering (i.e. a non-medical face covering) as an additional hygiene measure, when using busy public transport or when in enclosed indoor public areas such as retail outlets.

Nobody in public wearing face masks. Thick ***** everywhere going right up to shop workers and staff. Scary stuff. No 2m distancing.
We are headed for a second wave mark my words.

I see few were wearing masks today. Maintaining social distancing wasn't easy in retail stores.

Saw Lidl have a box of 50 masks for 43 euro today - would have bought a box if they had a box of 10 or so. Just a notice for anyone paying a fortune in chemists

Second wave will he a disaster if it's bad. A second lockdown will be much worse for the economy because it f rates uncertainty into the future. It's one of the reasons I'm not happy about this phased reopening as things stand. I want quarantine for all incomers and facemasks by law in shops, urban areas, public transport etc. That'll prevent a second wave.
