426 is a lot of new cases, in comparison to the decline we've seen in recent weeks. It seems like a major spike.

Read the thread. Or watch the presser. It's including historic cases that never got reported.

    No questions about face coverings.

I think this is what happens when you have political reporters reporting instead of health journalists. See everything through prism of politics and can miss out on the bigger picture. I'd say public interest in something like that is very low. Need to know about what's happening now, whether restrictions will be lifted, face coverings etc

    No information to suggest that.

But if they were not offically reported then how would the contact tracing teams know to contact them,

A few lads could do with listening to the Press Conference.

We are 100% starting Phase 1 on Monday. It’s as clear as day.

There is no fcuking conspiracy to lengthen the lockdown:rolleyes:

That's not how it works, when there is no evidence of a conspiracy, that is more evidence of a conspiracy.

Surely if the HSPC isn't notified then contact tracing can't begin? Isn't that how the system works?
Hospitals have their own systems, HSPC would be community testing.

What on earth does that even mean ? So when are the cases from.

It seems that they are publishing results as they are received, as opposed to attributing them to the dates that the test was taken.

It's frustrating to listen to them. It's their instinct to look for where there's a story, where there can be some potential conflict stoked up - and they often, even mostly, don't ask about the actually important stuff or question what genuinely needs questioning.

On a slightly different note: David Quinn hasn't a clue.

    Allegedly

Get real or go to the conspiracy theory forum. Allegedly? Good man.

Hospitals do their own tracing as I understand it.

All cases get contact traced by the same teams no? All cases are reported to HPSC and then they are contact traced. They explained the difference between complex and simple contact tracing over the last few days. Complex cases includes hospital cases.

All they have to do is name the hospital. Big deal.

Eh? Contact tracing is not centrally organised?

Manage the situation I'd say. They can't even get into China to see how it started

I think hospitals do their own thing. Henry said they can turn it all around in 24 hours.

Any word on what hospital the spike in cases is from. It must be a big hospital because it's a lot of cases and they all were staff.

Because I’ve listened to a lot of the press conferences and in the lead up to the previous deadlines they have pretty much flagged that the restrictions would be extended.

This time the tone is different.

Imagine, there had to be a person/ people whose job it was in that hospital to keep a record of the figures. Imagine watching the daily briefings or reading about the figures and never realising maybe you should send yours somewhere to be included..

I'm fairly certain contact tracing is centrally organised.

Do you need government to advise you to wear a mask?. The simple logic of a mask is it protects others from you.

He might get it when he sees a significant drop from the 426 tomorrow.
