Jamie, preferred his journey to Davis.

Tyrion-The court room scene was fantastic

Davos because he is the humble moral compass that holds together a world of crazy nasties.

I know the seas and rivers, the shapes of the coasts, I know hidden coves where a boat can land unseen. And I know that a king protects his people, or he is no king at all"

"If your god tells you to burn children, your god is evil".

Stannis: What is the life of one bastard boy against an entire kingdom?
    Davos: Everything.

"Onions," said Davos glumly. "That is what he has in me. The King's Hand should be a highborn lord, someone wise and learned, a battle commander or a great knight . . ." "Ser Ryam Redwyne was the greatest knight of his day, and one of the worst Hands ever to serve a king. Septon Murmison's prayers worked miracles, but as Hand he soon had the whole realm praying for his death. Lord Butterwell was renowned for wit, Myles Smallwood for courage, Ser Otto Hightower for learning, yet they failed as Hands, every one. As for birth, the dragonkings oft chose Hands from amongst their own blood, with results as various as Baelor Breakspear and Maegor the Cruel. Against this, you have Septon Barth, the blacksmith's son the Old King plucked from the Red Keep's library, who gave the realm forty years of peace and plenty." Pylos smiled. "Read your history, Lord Davos, and you will see that your doubts are groundless."

Tyrion, mostly for Peter Dinklage's scene here

Jaime. I enjoyed him in the books, and in the bit of the TV I've seen he was perfectly cast. Davos was grand like but nothing special.

Cersei. Both her and Tyrion have very little to split them in the books, both good characters. Both were somewhat poorly cast in the TV series (most characters were), IMO. But the twins in the final seems appropriate.

I wouldn't have been one bit surprised if Wun Wun won this tournament with how people there just love to see the world burn

As much as I loved Wun Wun, I couldn't justify his inclusion unfortunately as he was mostly non-speaking.

Then again..... Hodor DID make the last 16 so....

No idea who Wun Wun is. A TV-only character, I presume?

Great character. So many layers to him. He probably would've won if he made it in.

I would've chosen him as my wildcard if it wasn't for the fact I needed to give the magnificent Eddison "Dolorous Edd" Tollett my nomination for that one.

Oh, did appear in ADwD. I stand corrected. I don't remember him.

Yes-ish. I believe there is some mention of a giant in the books once Jon lets the freefolk through the Wall but not categorically named iirc.

And the Battle of the Bastards has yet to be covered by the books because of the author's tardiness.

Jaime Lannister - for someone introduced with no redeeming qualities whatsoever, his redemption throughout the story was surprising. In the end you were rooting for him because you felt he would ultimately do the right thing. Plus Nikolaj Coster Waldau did this. :D

Tyrion Lannister - Peter Dinklage is superb and it's impossible to imagine anyone else as The Imp at this stage.

Damn, right in the feels. How did we go from that to season eight?

Just reading the ASOIAF Wiki there and it rings zero bells to me. But then, it has been 8 years since I read these, so I'm pretty impressed I can remember anyone here!

I almost nominated Wun Wun but thought Olenna deserved the nod

Jamie - better storyline and better character.

Cersei - She reminds me of Kim Jong un's sister. You wouldn't say no but you're always concious that if you say the wrong thing, the sausage could be facing the chopper.

I'm currently on season 4 of a rewatch and it really is practically perfect TV for those seasons in particular. Admittedly I don't view the last few seasons as harshly as most but there's categorically a dip once the book material gets exhausted (actually I think A Dance With Dragons is a very poor book anyways so season 5 dips as a result too)

The fact that you just used a David Rose (of Schitt's Creek) gif to try and insult me, only proves how much you really love me Petey despite all the snipes and banter, because you know I'm a David Rose fan... ;)

Tyrion because as much as he strayed in the parts of the show once the books ran out, he was brilliantly portrayed and it's not his fault the writing dried up.

Davos and Tyrion. Two of the best advisers in the show and unlikely captains in battle.

And that concludes our semi-finals. Thank you for all the votes. 19 cast in match 1 and 20 in match 2!

Your winners, by large margins both.....

    Jaime Lannister - 13 - 6 - Ser Davos Seaworth

    Tyrion Lannister - 16 - 4 - Cersei Lannister

    Meaning your finalists are......

    Tyrion Lannister

    220px-Tyrion_Lannister-Peter_Dinklage.jpg

    AND

    Jaime Lannister

    220px-Jaime_Lannister-Nikolaj_Coster-Waldau.jpg

The final will be posted at 11am tomorrow and will conclude at 8pm.

The character with the most votes will be crowned Game of Thrones Greatest Ever Character.

A brief recap on how your finalists made it here in the first place:

    Tyrion:

    Round 1 Tyrion Lannister 6 0 Ygritte
Round 2 Tyrion Lannister 6 2 Margaery Tyrell
Round 3 Tyrion Lannister 9 7 Tywin Lannister
Quarter Final Tyrion Lannister 10 4 The Hound' Sandor Clegane
Semi Final Tyrion Lannister 16 4 Cersei Lannister

    Jaime Lannister:

Round 1 Jaime Lannister 6 0 Meryn Trant
    Round 2 Jaime Lannister 6 0 Qyburn
    Round 3 Jaime Lannister 9 0 Hodor
Quarter Final Jaime Lannister 10 4 Arya Stark
Semi Final Jaime Lannister 13 6 The Onion Knight, Ser Davos Seaworth

Jaime amazingly did not drop a single vote until the quarter finals, though it can definitely be argued that Tyrion had the harder path to get here, from Round 2 onwards in particular. Tyrion also won his Semi Final by the larger margin, 12 votes to Jaime's victory of 7.

just in case i don't make it on tomorrow, please accept my vote for tyrion lannister.

great final pair, both well deserved.

tyrion edges it for my for being a lovable little rogue, everytime he had a glass of wine in his hand, i was always at awe to how is didnt spill all over the place, it was like voodoo or black magic.

Might be late to the party this evening so I'm throwing my vote to the most witty, initially politically astute rascal who knew how to party. His story ran out of gas but his interactions with all manner of people were memorable. He delivered some of the greatest quotes and was yet another story of a person who survived against great odds.

    Tyrion the imp.

    Peter Dinklage is the man.

Apologies to Jaime who I really liked and whose journey for the most part I really enjoyed but like much of the ending I thought George R R Martin would endeavour to return Jaime back to type with a more ruthless nature at the death, quite literally.

I'll Vote for Tryion, he is central to everything in both the books (what I've read so far) and the TV series, jaime is also a great character and this is a fitting final. Tyrion just about edges it for me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,503 ✭✭✭✭Also Starring LeVar Burton

Jaime Lannister - he's my favourite character in the entire series (yes shocker! Sansa actually isn't my absolute favourite ; she is 2nd though, so you should all still be ashamed for voting her out)...

Jaime starts off as one of the instantly most detestable characters of the series, and its so easy to hate him, but over time we start to root for him more and more and his arc is just incredible (let down in the show, and a terrible ending but still better than what most got)

It's a good final, two solid characters, and fitting that the two brothers are facing off. The scenes they shared together were always great

Jaime Lannister for the win. Best use of the POV narration in my opinion, wonderful character, starts off as the first big bad, the things i do for love, flings bran out a window, but he is so well written that you completely side with him.

Initially tyrion was my favourite character the witty little bugger, but jaime is far superior, i'm not so sure it's even the journey he goes on as much as it is the journey we go on to find out who he is.

He would have been so happy in life just being a knight and having a sword and being the greatest, but no, he had to have proud priggish tywin as a father and conniving cersei as a sister the poor chap didn't stand a chance.

A really noble character when you understand his POV.

Would be happy with either winner, but Jaime is just amazing, I love the casting of Nicholas Coster waldeau (is that it?) it makes him a lot more manly than he was in the books, in the books jaime and cersei are both described as being pretty, but in the show they are both handsome and strong.

Anyone who vote Jaime is big into incest.

Tyrion for the win. Decent guy who overcame so many problems, tried his best to bring order and fairness to a cruel world. Also was a funny fcuker.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue
