What are you on about? The 5km limit came into effect last Tue.5th May.

The 5km limit is currently just for exercise only. From the 18th it will be for shops, exercise etc.

Shortness of breath is not a symptom of the flu.

Do you know what material that's in the mask you're allergic to?
Was trying to figure if its the material or where the strings are bonded to it or just the friction and/or the metal nose bridge strip. probably the humidity...contact dermatis& rosacea which doesnt help.
Even with the n95s I have some problems but less as they have a dome shape away from ones face.

    It absolutely is.

Shortness of breath is not a symptom of the flu.

It can be. Not saying it definitly wasnt here in December but every december some people will have the worst flu they've ever had, some of them might have had a cough or respiratory issues. This year those people are now coming out convinced they had c19, all anecdotal cases, coincidence is as good an explanation.

How many have shown up to the GP in the past 6 weeks with respiratory symptoms and tested negative?

The amount of people in Ireland not wearing masks is a joke, it is common sense to wear a mask! Just because it was never the norm or culture here.Things are different now...... people need to get real. The majority not wearing them......Afraid they will look silly, bigger fish to fry I say...……...bloody wear them !!!!

First time I wore a face mask out, I thought I would look silly. But then I saw one more in the shop and I couldn't care less anymore. If everybody wore a mask, we would all look silly together, so I don't see what the problem is.

Shortness of breath is caused by pneumonic symptoms such as fluid in the lungs. Flu rarely, rarely causes pneumonia for the average person. Just because someone thinks they may have had COVID and had COVID symptoms does not mean they're 'just overreacting and it's the flu'. You have to be vigilant of every single symptom nowadays, I'm not sure why that's hard to understand.

Workplaces will enforce wearing them. Shops that open up again will insist on them for the sake of their staff. Public transport unions are pushing it big time, when its gets busier more people will start wearing them and could potentially a self policing thing. I can see attitudes to masks changing quiet fast.

Shops that didnt close never insited on masks. ( No reports of high numbers of super valu or tesco staff catching it) so why do you think shops opening next week will.

Very interesting. There was a poster in one of the threads that said they had family or friends over from China before or at Christmas. If UK and France had it then, I believe that poster and it was definitely here before Christmas.

It would be a sign of pneumonia, which serious cases of covid get.

    Flu and coronavirus
The symptoms of coronavirus are like flu symptoms. The main difference is that you usually do not have shortness of breath when you have the flu.

    https://www.cdc.gov/flu/symptoms/symptoms.htm
Flu is different from a cold. Flu usually comes on suddenly. People who have flu often feel some or all of these symptoms

    fever* or feeling feverish/chills
    cough
    sore throat
    runny or stuffy nose
    muscle or body aches
    headaches
    fatigue (tiredness)
some people may have vomiting and diarrhea, though this is more common in children than adults.
*It’s important to note that not everyone with flu will have a fever.

    https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/flu/

Flu symptoms come on very quickly and can include:

a sudden fever – a temperature of 38C or above
    an aching body
    feeling tired or exhausted
    a dry cough
    a sore throat
    a headache
    difficulty sleeping
    loss of appetite
    diarrhoea or tummy pain
    feeling sick and being sick

Let's not forget for 80% of people its only a mild illness. I think we can all get a bit scared reading these threads and news too much, well I do sometimes anyway

Exactly this. The berating of people who think they may have had it is ridiculous on here, honestly. We need EVERYONE who even has an inkling they may have COVID to get tested/checked. It's hard to put into words how important it is.

Cold and flu can cause chest infections, symptoms of which include breathlessness

If it was so easy to distinguish between flu and covid we wouldn't have to test for it

Pneumonia is a type of chest infection. Flu rarely causes pneumonia, as has been said before.

If you have COPD you really should be extremely careful leaving your house. Apparently autistics and similar are also exempt/problematic. Still, it's a small percentage of people and wouldn't affect community mask wearing for the majority.
Exactly, the whole idea of making masks mandatory is that if everyone is wearing them, the risk for those who can't is reduced enormously.
Ive actually been assuming that the people who I see wearing them in their car would also wear them in the bedroom
Shaming people for wearing masks when there's an airborne virus, what a total utter genius.

one-third of pneumonia cases develop from a respiratory virus, with the flu the most common of those.

I'm not sure how this still doesn't prove that a large majority of pneumonia cases are not caused by the flu?

I don't get why you're discrediting people who think they may have had it, what difference does it make? There's a chance they had it.

Anything from a temperature to the worst possible dose of the flu you've ever had but doesn't still warrant going to hospital

Greece's economy is massively dependent on Tourism

Poland is not tied to the Euro which may be why there are so low?

I've heard of a lady cocooning getting the virus. Only getting shopping left outside the door and talking to her son through a closed window.
That's a bit like the other post earlier about a UK mother who was cocooning and her daughter only left the shopping outside too. Except that in your example, the son must have been bellowing through that closed window for her to hear! Hope there were no cracks in the window!

There's always more to these stories than you hear. The virus doesn't just materialise out of thin air without coming into contact with it.
    lbj666 wrote: »
And... to be honest i have absolutely no interest in anecdotal stories of cases in amongst 3.8 million of cases worldwide.

@lbj666 yes, to clarify, I was trying to say that these stories are all anecdotal crap and not worth paying attention to.
