    The 5km limit is unenforceable.

But you could say the same about the 2km - For me it's just another 3km of fields - but that extra 3km could make a huge difference to some who may be able to call up to friends/family and chat from a distance. Does it need to be policed?

I'm no fan of Sky News, but I don't see the problem with it. It's a quote from the child's father reporting how his son reacted to the loss. It accurately reflects the story of what that family has experienced.

    Lol

"He should just be honest he listened to unelected overpaid so called medical experts.

Giving that he is unelected and his party as been utterly rejected by the country we all know he is just a snake oil salesman anyway.

At least Trump was elected to his office unlike Leo who can not just do what he was clearly told by the Irish voting pubic jog on Leo.

Capacity is well in excess of those requesting tests and you can't make more people test positive!

I'm happy to have the good news! Just healthy suspicion. I'm a cynical bastsd

The cocooning of the elderly and of those younger people with serious underlying health problems (e.g. cystic fibrosis) would have meant that, if the "herd immunity" approach had been chosen, the number of patients in intensive care units (ICUs) would still have been relatively low, wouldn't it? After all, who has a serious underlying health problem without being aware of it?
It's also diabetes or heart issues or even asthma

Eh... Spain??? Some parts of the US?

What parts of the US were overwhelmed? Even in the hardest hit area, NYC, they weren't
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said Wednesday that the state had managed to stabilize coronaviris infection rates and averted fears that the hospital system would be overwhelmed.

Speaking at a briefing to reporters, Cuomo said that new cases had leveled off at a “manageable” 2,000 a day. “The health care situation has stabilized, the fear of overwhelming the healthcare system has not happened,” he said.

There's been a million individual tasks and difficult decisions required over the past few months, and you're including "Photo ops" in your criticism? People seem pretty happy to know that their Taoiseach and Health Minister are taking an interest in what is going on, unlike say the UK.

    This endless negativity is wearing.

I am absolutely including photo ops - particularly when Leo was at pains to tell us his trumpeted return to doctoring was not about photo ops and then we see Dr Leo in his scrubs top, mask draped around his brass neck. grinning for the professional photographer that just happened to be there when Leo was help swab for tests.

    It's PR.
    PR as people are dying.

As for the UK - I don't live there so frankly what their idiot elected officials do as no concern of mine. What our caretaker govt does is - and that includes the PR guru hired as this crises began.

We don't need PR - we need clear information, transparency, and accountability.
What we are getting is photo-ops, cancelled CMO press conferences, Speeches with no questions allowed, and Leo on The Late Late Show.

The 40k includes nursing homes as well as usual swabs. It's a total figure. We have capacity for 70k a week.

70k by end of next week.
60k spread out over a few weeks, they could be sitting somewhere for a week before they get to the lab, plus there is the hospital admission tests, in house testing of medical staff, retests and GP referrals and meat processing plants by the looks of it.
They were trying to widen the criteria for testing but they can't because of capacity issue.
One doc said quote the journal
"On the symptoms needed to get a test, Ó Tuathail said that they’ve been “tinkering with the edges”, and it won’t make a massive difference to GPs workload.

He said that the change for GPs “is minimal”, because the big limitation is the priority catagory for testing. Of those who come to him with Covid-19 symptoms, 80-90% of people are not in the priority group for testing."

Shame on your post. I am a far way from a Christian that you can get but I understand the sentiment. Maybe if you read the early posts today you would realise the worry that poster has been under with a grandmother waiting on test result.
