Spain have seen lowest deaths in a month, but new daily cases at 6740 - so far today, thats peak levels, now I wonder .....
On April 13 they allowed contruction and other type work to resume, so streets got a little busier again, I'm thinking this could be the reason for the spike in new cases.
Deaths at a low for a month show the initial effects of lockdown, but if my suspicions about the rise in new cases is due to partial lockdown lift, then deaths will get worse again.

This must be in the air....

They are telling us if we take kids out in bikes to wash the bikes with bleach afterwards ?
    wut???

Also to change their clothes when they come in, seems crazy....

I’ve read Spain, like ourselves have widened the net. In the middle of the crisis they were overwhelmed with the very sick and only testing those presenting as sick. Now as they try to ease lockdown they are upping the testing in the community

That yellow line will be well below the blue one in a few months time.

If the measures work correctly would it not just sink to natural levels? Are you just following the trend or assuming a large number of people who normally die of the flu will be dead and therefore will allow the numbers to sink below previous years averages? A culling of the vulnerable?

I am hoping it's the wider testing that's causing the daily cases to rise, because if it's due to the workers returning last week, then we are in for more carnage in hospitals in the next few weeks.

As soon as I heard it, the opening credits from the Simpsons sprang to mind. In particular, the bit with the "3 0 days without an accident", Homer walking out of the plant with the radioactive rod stuck to his back, him throwing it out of the car window and Otto eating it.

    Are you in Spain?

About what they are asking you to do - washing bikes, changing clothes, - well holy fcuk, what's that about?

We aren't told that advice. We saw on TV streets in china being washed and sprayed.

You'd nearly think the virus is some sort of a poisonous gas or something.

I hope it's not in the air, I like my windows open...

Change clothes (and shower) after you get in, I understand. You go out and touch things, unzip your jacket, it will also be on your clothes as well.

I also have a bike and have been cleaning it down. Basically anything I touch gets a cleaning, handlebars are probably the most touched item on a bike.

I think it's pretty much guaranteed that the US will experience a significant 2nd wave event, because they are basically self centered and thick.

Maybe if that's the case we just forget about herd immunity, won't stop at 70% if it's that prevalent. Being locked inside is one thing, but having to disinfect yourself and wash clothes every time you go outside isn't my idea of living. Wonder how it'll tip over into "feck it lets all take our chances"

Yes, I live just north of Barcelona in a town called Badalona

    From El Pais (english here..)
    https://english.elpais.com/society/2020-04-24/how-to-safely-take-children-outside-under-spains-relaxed-confinement-measures.html

Personally I think it's nuts, so long as we keep our distance from people we should be OK, but it does make me a bit paranoid.

Make it law that you have to wear a facemask while working or shopping. State quarantine for two weeks for anybody entering the country. Social distancing and keep the lockdown in place for another four weeks and we should be in good shape. It's really not that difficult.

Any journalists going into today's briefing?

If you're interested, would you refer to this article and ask would they be recommending for people to get an oximeter to monitor their oxygen levels at home before it becomes critical?

The Gov should send every household some face masks then, they are not the easiest thing to lay your hands on at the moment.

If you go out to the shops, you have to come back thinking as if you're infected... And change clothes... How can you go about your life in your house as normal with dirty clothes on. You touch your jumper and then your nose. It's a pain in the hole but anything you touch outside of your house, you can pick it up. And gloves won't help. You can lean up against a wall and bring it home on your clothes.

I much prefer to stay inside and go out when absolutely necessary because of all this.

    I see....wires crossed

I guess what I meant was that if Holohan and co are annoyed now, what are they annoyed about? They said people (most people) can leave the house.....that is D only real rule here. I have not heard of any real relaxation on this.....just seeing more people out...that is all..but there is no rule against this...

The whole "leave the house only if" is where the nonsense and confusion comes in....because people will use this ambiguity to leave the house....

They made this...they have to accept it...

Has Holohan evidence of rules being flouted? Other than thinking it due to increased vibrations....?

And if this is the reason he is annoyed, then he and co need to revisit what they are telling the general public.

Hence my wondering that maybe it's not anything to do with flouting the rules, but the actual rules themselves.....

Possibly, but given that I can work from home, even before this crap hit, I'm just leaving for the shopping and for a walk since the guidelines/restrictions were brought in.

Again nothing confusing about the guidelines in relation to travel for myself, family or friends or for anyone with a basic level of reading comprehension, those that may decide to flout them that's a different matter.

The city is far from complete lockdown
A student travelled from New York and infected 70 people 4000 people have been put into quarantine due to contact tracing from all on the plane to where they ended up.
Airports train stations are doing temperature testing.
Check points around the city are also doing temperature checks or people entering or leaving the city. Anybody entering the city or leaving the city must be registered on the states corna virus app.
All arrivals from abroad must quarantine for 28 days.
    Weddings
    Funerals
    And public performance are curtailed
For the next 28 days also

Some certainly are, like some here or in any country but the leaders they pick at times certainly seem to be thick!

I have been demanding this for weeks. When a maskless potential vektor is nearby I can literally hear every breath they take, every move they make even. The other day in Lidl (my nearest supermarket) there was a maskless sweaty man in shorts and t-shirt. Everyone was avoiding him like the plague.

Where exactly does one acquire a mask? If you’re that scared of getting sick then stay at home.
