My Tank is Full , What about storing another 1000 or 2000 lt ? In what for how long ?
An IBC tank would be a cheap way of storing 1000 litres but I would think for insurance purposes regarding leakage spillage a second tank might not be covered.

Just to remind people suppliers in Ireland will have to pay the increase in carbon tax from next friday 1st may.

A Bag of 40kg coal is increasing 80c a bag
Briquettes are going up 30c a bale
small 11kg of gas around €1 increase
    large cylinders approx €4.50 increase
heating oil will also increase around €20 for 1000litres
    .
This won't effect buying from the north just local suppliers

I don't see why not as long as its full to capacity. You don't want room for condensation to build up.

They deserve to be supported at the prices they offer. I ran out before Christmas and filled two containers to tide me over until delivery a few days later, I paid 97 cent at the nearest pump that had supply.

395 for 1000 in South Kilkenny with campus oil, "cm15"
For 15 euro off online quotes

Use "Car25" for €25 off. With campus online.
"Wat25" works aswell although it is supposed to be for Waterford only.

Seeing prices of €190 for 500l and €370 for 1000l around now.

Another €10 below that from some suppliers around Dublin.

Savage value to be had out there.

Hopefully it'll drop to that price or near enough nationwide.

Picked up a secondhand tank locally today and have capacity for another 500 litres in used 20 litre oil containers.

Don't mind telling at all, it cost nothing. It holds 1240 litres.

The man is a friend of mine who picked up a few of them from a contractor who had a job lot of them from a housing estate that he wanted to get rid of a couple of months ago.

My friend has a lot of storage space so took a few of them knowing they were too good a bargain to leave behind. I mentioned to him about oil after dropping in price so much and I could do with a spare one and would buy one off him and he said take one away shur and when your finished with it drop it back.

The same man would do the same favour for anyone of his friends if they asked and vice versa. It's the country way.

He has to be very good man. Good to have friends. Only think what I can find here is 150e for same size as yours. Stay safe and buy lots of oil. :)

What way will you work it? Will you pump from one tank to another? I'd be terrified it would leak I don't think house insurers would be happy to know I had two brimmed tanks in the garden.

My oil tank, boiler, solar cylinder and water filtration system are all in a purpose built shed where there is plenty room for another tank. I'll just pump the oil from the spare to the usual tank when there is room for it.

So im wondering how long this will be as low as it is or lower?

    Few technical questions -

Does Kerosene evapourate at the same rate as petrol or diesel? Or does it at all.

I have 2 35,000 ltr tanks formerly used as petrol and diesel tanks outside and seriously considering filling them and sitting on them for a year - evapouration is my only worry really - any other down points?

350 euro in EK Fuels, delivery to 25 mile radius of Dundalk.

Is a second tank needed or worthwhile?

Currently we go through about 1.5 to 2k litres of kerro a year. Got 1K litres 3 weeks ago into a 1,200 litre tank and I would expect that to last us until close to Xmas dependent on weather and the amount of time spent home working over the next while. How long will kerro keep in a tank before it starts to go off as it were? Are any oil suppliers taking up front payment of oil now to deliver at a later date maybe 6 or 9 months down the line? Also are an oil company happy to deliver to an IBC tank?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,576 ✭✭✭Rows Grower

In the last 12 hours 8 different companies in Dublin have dropped to or below 360 per 1,000 litres.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,734 ✭✭✭bigron2109

Wexford seems to be one of the places which is taking a while to drop their prices compared to other counties . Example being, Mr Oil deliver to both Carlow and Wexford and get the prices in Carlow are much cheaper.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,268 ✭✭✭SouthWesterly

112 cheaper than what I paid 2 weeks ago. I'm, getting sicker and sicker looking at it.
Almost tempted to leave my heating on 24/7 just to be able to get cheaper oil :D

Will it definitely go up next week? I've been saying to OH that we should get a fill and he keeps saying, "let it drop some more" but I want to strike while it is still low!

Father in law has one of those caged tanks you'd see on construction sites, tempted to get it filled

Won't be. We need the money to pay the Chinese banks back the loans we got. :)

Yeah, if gov want the greens on board, I cant see them postponing the new duty on a commodity that is at record lows.

Its ideal time for duty to go on it tbh, most people will barely notice given the massive reduction in price.
The duty is I think 20 quid per 1000l, so only a fraction of the drop.
I got 1000l for 405, the other day, maybe should have waited a bit longer but we were fairly low and didn't want to run out, I can't imagine it going to drop too much more.

On the ball, just checked them there as they supply in Kerry too and sure enough they dropped to 400 because Kelleher's had done so 2 hours earlier.

That's twice now they have dropped 20 off since Wednesday.

Yes Herby, waiting myself for the prices to drop in comparison to other areas of Ireland. 1000 is still 418 in Kerry.

At least Kerry is a good distance from Dublin, Wexford is about €45 dearer than Wicklow, even oil delivered to my house from a particular supplier ten miles from me in Co. Wicklow is €45 dearer than to my cousin 20 miles further from them in Co Wicklow. Must be a border tax we haven't heard about

I rang Claddagh Oil and ordered 800L for 300 EUR. I would have ordered more if I thought I had space in the tank.

Kelleher's and Corrib are down to 400 since today, we're still way behind other places even at that though but it's a lot cheaper than last month.
