Potentially very stupid question here but, if everyone in the country has been mostly staying indoors for over 2 weeks (i.e. longer than the max. incubation period), then how can there be any new cases?

Because people haven't been mostly staying in the home. Shopping as much as you like, joggers on footpaths, parks are packed, look at the amount of cars out and about with people going places etc... Iv'e heard of house parties, card games and pubs with a back door regulars policy. Lack of masks been worn by people is also astounding.

We aren't beating the virus because of the selfish among us. You can see it on here with people admitting they've no interest in putting their shoulder to the wheel any longer.

In other words, the majority of people are comfortable with the opportunity death cost. Time to move on, fella.

Very little is understood about this virus at the moment

We aren't been told the half of it i'd say.

This didn't come from a fcuking bat for a start or whatever silly crap the Chinese are trying to sell us.

Fair enough. Anybody I've seen out in my neck of the woods has been observing physical distancing. Those who aren't are presumably from the same household. Personally cannot wait for the 2 km limit to be lifted as I haven't seen my partner or family in almost 6 weeks but I do appreciate the importance of the restrictions.

Yep. The recent daily increases are the result of the sloppiness of the last 5-7 days, we were doing fine until before Easter

These people never wanted to put their shoulder to the wheel in the first place.

Not if it meant inconveniencing themselves.

Unfortunately i can't say the same about my neighborough and the local LIDL and ALDI, i see less and less people engaged into social distancing and all, we are heading for a peak

The "opportunity death cost". Is that a typo or poorly phrased or some kind of catchy lingo from the psychopath's manual?

I'm sincerely hoping he isn't suggesting people are comfortable with the likes of going to the pub, at the cost of potentially killing people, for a pint. A pint.

You would wonder how this country ever faced famines, civil wars and any number of other monumental societal struggles... when we have so many weak-willed and selfish people within our ranks?

Not having a pint in their local pub, is killing people... to the point that they would rather just go out their front door and expose themselves (and everyone else) to the virus... it's pathetic defeatism. Our ancestors would have laughed at these pretenders!

I remember earlier this year, my mum passed away in January. She did have cancer but they where positive about the outcome. She was early 60's and yes she was sick but we expected her to battle on. She took an infection at some point in January and in that month she suffered high temps, sweats, couldnt breath and so on. We all came down with a cold at the same time. We were not allowed in for days because of it. She died later in the month, like I said the cancer doctors were positive but she went down fairly quick. I rememer taking the o2 from her nose for a second and she grabbed it back. I may be looking for a reason but maybe it has been here earlier.

There are plenty on here like that. Not Timmy necessarily, but a few others I could mention.

Either for gargle/Not inconveniencing themselves at all/ Paying for a lifestyle they can't afford and could never/Or acting like a loud jackass when they are out to make sure they get enough "attention" (you know the type)

Don't hear many people banging on about 0 flu deaths every year. The opportunity cost for an open society that lives with the flu is the deaths. Is that clear enough?

Respiratory diseases are incredibly common, and kill hundreds of thousands of people annually. No reason why it was necessarily Covid

A lot of people out for takeaway's too, the risk involved might be small but I'm not willing to take it.

Obviously not. A gradual acceptance that we have to live with the death, like the flu, will be needed. There's a flu vaccine, we don't have 0 flu deaths.

    Stupid thought probably

But if every country got to the same level of disease suppression wouldn't travel between said country be of no impact?

If country A has an active covid rate of 1/10000 and B has active covid rate of 1/10000, surely there is no impact of allowing travel between these countrys?

    Am I thick ?

Stop comparing this to the flu. Internalise that this is NOT a flu.

I'm not sure if you're a high level troll or genuinely that vacuous.
