I would expect the Irish population to be pretty deficient in vit d... Not like we get alot of sunshine. I know myself I should take supplements but don't, I doubt I'm unique.

sure but having a dark skin in a high latitude would make it difficult, that was the point of the adaption

A belief in gender identity involves a level of faith as there is nothing tangible to prove its existence which, as something divorced from the physical body, is similar to the idea of a soul. - Colette Colfer

France has cancelled all flights to all destinations outside of the Shengen area.

    USA have banned everybody.

Looks like ourselves and UK could become a world "region" now with no outsiders coming in without quarantine.

Some of these leaders are dangerously incompetent.

Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick: "There are more important things than living."

Can you imagine an Irish politician saying this?
    Actually!

Americans are not bothered about the loss of life.

They are too far individualistic and materialist to care at this stage.

So many there are deeply religious as well and believe that everyone has a plan made by God.

    This is America.

Good few reports still to come in as well.

Meanwhile...I just find the behaviour coming from governors and mayors extraordinary through this mostly on the Republican side. It's crazy.

    https://twitter.com/Acyn/status/1252671806080573441

I don't know is it denial, selfishness, an allergy to facts?

The US is making itself the biggest threat to the rest of us right now through this sort of leadership up and down the country.

The mayor of Las Vegas has no power to do anything, shes just venting. And she isn't a republican. The (democratic) governor has ordered a shut down until at least April 30. What's your point here?

Yes. The more and more I hear of them since Trump got in, the more I search for any kind of humanity, compassion, empathy and just general love of life. It’s not there.

    Very odd collection of people...

I never said she was a republican.

It's always been there. Trump has just made it more pronounced.

Of course people will want to blame Trump on their reaction, whilst not coming to terms with the society America has become.

I suspect that even a million deaths won't bother most of America.

I'd imagine poverty has a big impact on outcomes with this.

Deaths today recorded so far in the US - 2,109.

Smokers, drinkers, no healthcare, poor diets. No mystery.

Prime Time pushing the idea we're doing well and then showing a graph that we're doing badly compared to other countries.

This caricaturisation of Americans is the weird thing. As if they were one homogenous blob. Or all fall into a brace of freakish stereotypes. Pfft. Ridiculous. Look at aerial photos of those freedom protests, for example, there were about as many at them as went to court here with Gemma and John. America is full of different kinds of people, just like anywhere else. I have a few pals in America and they are getting through this with as much grace and sadness, confusion and stoicism as the rest of us. Just because people in America were given a choice in 2016 between the devil and a demon and picked one because they had no options, doesn't mean people can dump all over ordinary Americans forever. (Well, you can, of course. If you are a nitwit.)

Agreed 100%. Prioritise the most vulnerable which were the elderly and nursing homes. Leo more or less just said there was more important areas.

Not good enough. Everyone should be equal and what’s worse is the nursing homes high risk was well flagged and they all missed it.

He is already pushing the blame to the CMO and the advisory committee.

    Came on here for updates.
Looking at the last few pages, it's seems to be mostly an anti-American/Trump diatribe. Wuhan is in what State again?

Very odd. Usually the same gunk from the same posters, who are detracting from the information that many come on the thread to find out about.
