This really seems to be post-peak now
Based on what? The fact that yesterday was higher?

Have they started to get nursing home test results back?

Its quiet surprising they were able to announced number of recoveries, other countries have struggled to get those figures together even though they are based on assumptions of max recovery times for mild cases.
Testing is ongoing for 7-10 days in nursing homes. Those numbers are releases from ICU and hospital.

Serious question everyone is talking about passing the peak etc etc how can there actually be a peak if weve all been quarantined and not infecting people. Ergo wouldn't leaving people about there business actually heighten the risk of infection and therefore another peak.

    Genuinely curious

Swab tests, an important distinction. Nowhere near that level are being processed for results daily

Source? Did they say swab tests? If we have 500 positivities and the positivity rate is about 80% that would be a processing amount of 2500?

Some of the people that died that where announced yesterday died up to 3 weeks ago they said so in the briefing.

We do seem to have peaked.

Popped in here for the first time in days and still the same sh!t going on.

Drop in numbers, that's great. Do they still have the same testing criteria? Two symptoms or whatever they're looking for now.

No point telling us we're doing great when they're not testing everybody with symptoms. They're also happy to have asymptomatic people walking about the place.

When capacity isn't infinite, it makes sense to restrict the testing to those most likely to have it. Hence the increase in positives detected when they did change the criteria.

Hospitals have capacity to test 5,000 and the turnaround has been within 24 hours. De Gascun has just said 24-36 hours in labs and they have 8000-9000 capacity.

More testing and still a downward trend.15% admitted to hospital. Lower than the 20% that is widely reported. Evidence of effective testing. Large percentage is through contact tracing. Encouraging signs. Hopefully we can have the resources to use mask widespread and upscale testing even more so. Heading in the right direction

Apart from deaths the pattern is very positive. Time to get back towards some sense of normality.

Seems like a waste of time unless we are going to have a never-ending lockdown.

    Depends on where you are

We’re testing those that the WHO have advised to test. We had an over 90% negative when we tested everyone with a sore throat.

We haven’t seen large spreading on society so you would assume there isn’t a large amount of asymptomatic at all

It's looking like that but let's not start sucking each other d*cks just yet...
    Keep up the good work.

Oh I fully agree. We're only here because of the good work by the vast majority to conform to the restrictions and will only be able to keep improving if we keep it up. I've not left the house since I came back from college on the 13th because I've had no reason to but have seen plenty of people on social media ignoring the restrictions

The fact that we hit the 600's and have slowly, consistently had drops in the last few days. I don't have numbers to hand at the moment, but we've made a big drop

Is there still another 77 deaths to be added to today's 44 deaths?

Not stated, they are doing mass testing at nursing homes so assume that some of them are. De Gascun said that they are getting 1500 requests a day and using the other numbers to test in homes.

To the overall total - some of these deaths may have occurred at the very beginning of the outbreak.

We were being told of up to 100'000 dead and that has not happened thankfully.

The deaths we do have are tragic but thankfully under 1'000.

Some of us that have essential jobs can see it is not the zombie apocalypse out there some people who have been stuck at home need to get some perspective.

I knew one of the people who has died from this virus but life has to carry on.

It is not going to be 100% safe again for God knows how long but it is GETTING to a stage that we will be safe enough.

We won't hit a peak until we expand testing. It's fairly static at the moment week on week. Without knowing how many tests are coming a given day we don't know where we are.

Who is to say the 600 cases werent the day the labs were on overtime to keep up.

The tests over the last week were 19% positive, iirc the previous week was 16% positive.
