Bit of personal, no big deal - I wouldn’t judge a persons ethics on 26 euro of coke, then has a night out and it’s portrayed as a celebration for the purposes of a wrag headline

Unlikely, code of ethics standard for solicitors would be fairly high, any questionable activities would soon see a disbarment.

Solicitors break the rules and the law all the time. Who will disbar them, the Law Society run by themselves?

That fact that hes an informer got him off the Tiger kidnapping...

This seems to be a very popular theory these days

I remember yrs ago some of the lads from ballyer telling me that some good looking young ones were being paid to keep on the straight and narrow and study in school so when they were older they could become guards, solicitors etc... they wanted to have people on the inside.. be smart thinking... they also said they used to get young ones to go to coppers and hook up with the local cops that would be in there to see if they could get anything to blackmail them with..

Ya they were saying they were thinking about having them in place in 10 yrs or so.. I wonder is DD wife a local? Maybe she was 1 of them and he ended up hooking up with her... I think they were saying that they caught a few cops out with girls going back to parties and them all taking coke... and then they produced the evidence to the cops when they were back at work

Lol - I’ve no doubt someone probably mentioned around a campfire whilst swigging from a 2 liter and sucking on a spliff, but if you believe it was followed through then the mind boggles.

Well, The Departed was a remake of better films from South Korea, 'Infernal Affairs'

Infernal affairs was the original, but it definitely wasn't better.

Not many garbage films win an Oscar for best picture. Each to their own though.

    Didnt Titanic win over Shawshank?

Was reading some of the background information regarding Willie Maughan and his disappearance, including the subsequent attacks on the family. The articles all say that OM and CP are not suspects in the murder/disappearance but associates of theirs are. One of the articles re the grave mentioned the associates of OM responsible for it have fallen out with him. Is that insinuating the B's were responsible?

Heard PC was involved anyway dunno about the B bros

3 years apart? Schlinder’s List beat Shawshank. Funnily enough, Shawshank wasn’t considered a major success at the time. It’s what's known as a sleeper hit, more revered over time. VHS made it the film a huge hit.

    Well it was a question!

Are the Oscars a measure of a films quality?

I just don't think The Departed is anywhere close to the level of something like Goodfellas in any way

    all just opinion though

Not exactly like you said but there have been rumours of people going into certain professions with a view to being of benefit to some characters of ill repute later down the line. Without a doubt it has happened imo.

    oh its happened 100%
    happens from time to time

its easier just to buy or threaten someone
