Maybe there are no personnel working in the Motor Tax offices at present. That could be the reason for the delay. Somebody has to process the online applications, after all. Although, I presume this would still be considered an essential service.

Has anybody taxed a car online since the start of the month? I did nearly 2 weeks ago and no sign of the disc yet, anybody in the same boat?

I taxed mine at the start of the month and i had the disc a few days later.

God forbid someone goes and does a bit of exercise. What are peoples problems, if its within the 2k then fair play. The irony is you probably typed your message from the bed

Now now now. I perform 50 Hindu pushups a day and I'm not far off that age. 20 pull-ups. Pm if you wish and we can have a competition.

Fair play to any guard who has to deal with these muppets.

    I wouldn’t have the patience.

He’s a wanker but it was 4+ days ago looking at the date, so was it law at that stage?

If you look at the first line of his twitter bio it explains completely his arrogance and contempt for the safety of others and the gardai.

No it wasn't law then, he was just acting the c**t and knew it.

Did the person post a video of someone else? The write up with the video doesn’t make it seem like it’s themselves in it.

The garda clearing the park said he has had some people question why they could not lay down on the grass.

“It takes most people about 20 minutes to walk 2km, so I’ve been telling people they really shouldn’t be out of their homes for more than 40 minutes, and they can’t just lie around here all day,” he said.

“Most were fine, some asked why they couldn’t have a picnic, and why they should go home. The answer is, to save lives.”

I don't actually know what wrong with sitting in the sun, its harder to keep distant from a moving target.

I guess it like the beaches, theoretically there should be enough room to allow a load of people on them (it would spread out people going outdoors), but then they get too crowded so authorities find it easier just to shut access to them... :/ its much easier for them to see there is nobody on the beach then to start judging whether people are getting too close, similar with the parks.

Does it matter. You were asked to stay home unless you needed food, medicine or had essential work. We haven't crashed the economy and put 500k out of work for the laugh. If we let people decide for themselves what's appropriate this lockdown will go on much longer than 3 more weeks. The restrictions are pretty rigid and straight forward.

Vitamin D deficiency in Ireland –implications for COVID-19.Results from The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA)
Vitamin D Status of Older Adults in Ireland in Winter .................................54. Vitamin D Status of Older Adults in Ireland in Summer ............................115. Vitamin D Status by Obesity and Respiratory Lung Conditions
    https://tilda.tcd.ie/publications/reports/pdf/Report_Covid19VitaminD.pdf
18Overall, obese older adults had much higher rates of vitamin D deficiency both in winter and summer (Figures 6-7). During winter, rates of vitamin D deficiency in the obese were 27.3% for those aged 55+ and 35.3% for those aged 70+ compared to 20.8% and 27.0% respectively for those not obese. Similar trends were also observed during summer. In those reporting chronic lung disease (such as chronic bronchitis or emphysema), the prevalence of vitamin D deficiency was significantly higher than those not reporting disease across the age groups both in winter and summer (Figures 8-9). For instance in those aged >55 years, the prevalence in winter of deficiency was 33.8% in those with lung conditions vs 22.7% with no conditions. Similar trends were observed in 70+ age group where rates were 32 vs 29.9% in winter and 16.9 vs 12.3% in summer

The 2km is for exercise not some roundabout justification to go out and grab a tan

Why do these people need to go to the park to get sun, it shines down on their homes too where they can follow the restrictions and get their vitamin D at the same time.

Road from Kilternan to Enniskerry is closed now. Popular for tourists and ramblers out this way. Last few days it had a checkpoint on it but now its closed completely due to a road traffic accident

I don't understand why the Garda didn't pull him in to the side of the road. Check the tax, nct, insurance were all in date. All tyres above legal depth, driving license, any illegal window tints, do drug and alcohol breath test, etc.

Even if he passed them all with flying colours, make it take an hour out of his day to do it all. Would soon put him off acting the bollocks.

not everyone has outside space with direct sunlight

Tough basically, there are regulations and we're supposed to follow them, despite it not being particularly fun at times.
The reference to exercise does not mean lying out in the sun, nor does catching some rays equate to exercise.

If people would stop trying to justify every little thing as necessary or consider themselves not holden to the rules none of these rules or regs would be required in the first place.

Would be great if he did. But the garda has to think about his safety too. Muppets like that would be high risk due to their irresponsible behaviour. A Garda shouldn’t take more risks than he has to. We need him out and about far more than we need the muppet to stay at home.
As a matter of interest, what does the new law state?

How can a Garda check ID and keep distance.

All due respect to Garda - But I don't want them near me, they are as high risk as you get out there.

They are being idiots. They stopped my mother going to the shop well within our 2km. Asked her what she was going for etc. Leaned right into the car.

With work I have had to deal with lots of checkpoints the last week. Every time they have been courteous and professional.

And how would they know without stopping her?
The 2 km limit is for exercise, not for shopping.
Do you think they are psychic?

We are not going outside it for shopping. That would be ridiculous unless you live in a rural area. There isn't a need for it for us and if we can prevent it we will.

Why did he lean right into her car? He was like twelve inches from her face?

And if there is no limit why stop her in a car? She can just lie about where and why she is going and he is risking her life and his own for nothing.

    Absolute stupidity.

Can he verify she will go to tescos? no. It is pointless the only reason is to create the sense of fear that you would be caught. But its not working. And its risking the lives of guards and us.

I can't really vouch for how friendly my mother is. I am used to her. Others tell me she is 'A lot'.:o
