    You are right.

I shouldn't be looking for positives here.

There's no positives with people dying. And especially if it's going to take 10 or 20 years of someone if they're only 70.

where are all these new cases occuring?

The reality is these cases are likely 7 or 10 days old. Id say the amount of cases actually recorded in the last few days has been much lower than those reported today.

It's not a lack of positivity, it's your lambasting anybody who supports the current restrictions as advocating a permanent lockdown or as enjoying the present situation.

    People have different perspectives.

You can celebrate less people dying today then yesterday. Enjoy it.

    Others see it differently.

Jesus you're in for some disappointment when it turns out that you're completely and utterly wrong. I'm not being mean or anything, just like... brace yourself for the long haul.

Rte have a hard on for UK figures and updates since day 0. The amount of air time given to the NI and UK status is an embarrassment to the irish national broadcaster.

Would you ever cop on to yourself after posting this ****e.:(

Why were the German figures added today to the total? Made it seem as though there was a large jump, when in there was actually a reduction on yesterday

There has been a delay in them coming back so they are being added in dribs and drabs, there were some added yesterday as well.

They had a man aged 45 with no underlying health conditions on the News he was from Cork he had to be put in an induced coma because of Covid 19. Maybe this Will get the message across that it is not just old people.

Yes that’s correct. The doom and gloomists will see it completely different for sure. Would you have been happier if today’s figures were the same as yesterday’s?

Yeah, it's not a lack of positivity, it's a lack of empathy.

Was he overweight? I think that is an underlying condition in and of itself but it isn't officially counted as one.

Are tests still being sent to Germany or is there a date when all these tests might be back?

Would be odd if RTÉ didn't include the figures on our closest neighbours, surely?

Interestingly, main headline that I see is the Irish figures.

New cases still high but we are doing good. Lockdown is working and social distancing is working. It will be worth it if we save lives of people.

Well I will tell you one thing.

The old people in the nursing home’s fighting this have far more grit, respect and bravery than some of the gutless cowards on here.

Not a hope. Young people dying has just been wrote of as "an outlier" theres always an excuse to ignore facts and claim its only the elderly.

Unfortunately there are several in the 'relaxation of restrictions' thread who have close to zero empathy for the elderly at present.

I think the message is pretty clear now that COVID is a more dangerous disease than first thought but the risk still remains relatively low for people under 60

Everyone knows it's not just old people.

Everyone also knows it's nearly all old people.

    It's the truth.

No he looked fairly fit, was in New York. Has it been shown if certain strains are harder?

Day one of the German analysis amounted to 15,000 out of 29,000 tests, so must be nearly all analysed now, or at least by tomorrow.

The numbers really mean nothing until the backlog is cleared. Realistically there’s probably 2/3 thousand resolved cases here. We simply cannot trust the new numbers because of how long ago the tests were taken.

Best question ever well said. Not everyone obviously but some people seem to have a death obsession here, guilting everyone else into nearly breathing. All over some media as well ffs. When do we ever hear the good news that people have actually recovered, many people. No It’s all about lock downs, dark days, pure doom and gloom, even talking at the start of this about the erection of temporary morgues. Doom merchants. Some of them would nearly have the grave dug for you. No wonder people are terrified. It’s just not right.

Virgin Media news showed a lovely clip of a 65 year old coming home recovered and RTÉ had a 45 year old who was in an induced coma for 9 days fully recovered. They are reporting some good news stories.
