It seems that with a functioning health system where critical patients can get treatment the disease has a case fatality rate of around 0.5% when asymptomatic and mild cases are accounted for. As time goes on we will better understand the virus and how it works and be able to apply more targeted treatment measures and hopefully some antiviral treatments/antibody transplants etc will help to increase the capacity of the health service to cope with the volume of patients will help too.

The idea that we can lockdown the country indefinitely and come out with a lower amount of deaths than a disease with 0.5% case fatality rate is obscenely uninformed dangerous nonsense.

It’s a running joke. The painter and the gardener she’s referring to are both her husband Brian O’Driscoll.

I didn’t see the interview but she’s great craic on Instagram.

If the Late Late bothers you that much, switch it off?

Yeah I had a trip to Italy in June and one to Germany in August planned. Written both these off. I'd say June 2021 will be an optimistic date for a sun holiday

If everyone hates him and the show why watch it? Viewer numbers are a big part of what keeps a show or it's presenter in place. I haven't watched it since Gay Byrne left and the plank took over, and I don't watch his show on VM.

I suppose it does provide a public service as per the broadcasters remit, in giving people something to moan about.

Nope, it was done over video call so cool your jets. Based on her insta she hasn’t left the house. She posts pics of herself, Brian or the dog with funny captions. It’s enjoyable light relief.

I know at least 2 cancer patients who have had their treatment suspended/put back 2 months

Testing is a shambles, but it should make no difference to your behaviour. Even before the lockdown, the advice was very clear - if you have symptoms, self-isolate.

There is no treatment, so getting the diagnosis actually makes shag all difference if you’ve got mild symptoms.

McConkey is loving his day in the sun, his minor celeb status.. I don't doubt his expertise to an extent but he loves to cause a big head line.

How does the daily death rate stack up against our normal daily death rate of say deaths associated with respiratory difficulty, sudden adult death syndrome, heart attacks, underlying issues, Undiagnosed underlying issues.

I am wondering how many are happening as we speak and being thrown into the "complication related to" corona virus..without a test to prove it, the person is dead and buried and thrown into the red category.. This is what I'd like to see.
COPD and pneumonia kill over 2500 people in Ireland per year. Very easy to call that Covid-19 in the untested I think. c

I just question the numbers with so many untested and assumed to be death by Covid 19

i wonder how many will be screaming murderers on government once the 350e wont be paid anymore and people told to go back to jobs which probably dont exist anymore, yet virus will be rampant and here to stay, as vaccine seems unlikely for years, if ever at all. and it will be here 3weeks or 3 months later anyway, as there's no scenario even with most brutal lockdowns some wet themselves here, that we will last even a week before few cases spark up and this $hit show will be on again in no time, will government foot another 350 for months or a years time, just to keep everyone isolated - dont think so, but imagine government will struggle when they will need to tell people to get out there as they wont foot the bill anymore to let people sit at home, and that will be the interesting part to see how those curtain twitching with hysteria will cope then.
