In all seriousness, I’ve heard some terrible stories over the years about upper management In HSE, some reliable, some less reliable but believable, including during this crisis.

I’m trying to take a “get behind them approach” unless verifiable proof suggests otherwise. Do I believe everything they say ? No, I don’t, but I don’t see what choice we have right now.

It’s a shame that when people think of HSE, the hard working frontline staff (and genuinely good workers/managers within it) are tarnished with the same brush as those within the system who cause all sorts of problems, make terrible decisions at the expense of everybody and who bare no responsibility for anything.

Just reading on Cork Safety alerts that parts of Mallow hospital are closer to the public and have been for over a week. Must be an outbreak there as well.

I live opposite a park. Had a look out there and it's pretty empty. Some people walking but lots of social distancing. I'd say the vast majority of people are adhering to the restrictions.

Yeah, I also want to trust that the people in charge are doing what's best for the country. But there's nothing wrong with questioning things and being objectionable. Look at the state of the UK media especially. They're still in election and Brexit mode while the place is burning down around them.

I love how people don’t get it . All you need is one car with someone infected to then keep this thing going. They’ll be out and about buying supplies. You go back to square one with an imported case if no lock down.

Takes on average 4 weeks to run its course in a house hold. 2 weeks for inital infection and 2 weeks for subsequent assuming everyone is isolating.

I really think this is going to flare back up as soon as restrictions lifted. Logically the only way to stop it is if everyone and I mean everyone stays at home for 4 weeks China style.

If different countries take a different approach this will be ineffective.

There is no other way out other than letting it run it’s course through the population.

Take the case of someone who’s father died in a nursing home with ARD. Waiting over 2 weeks for test result , still no result. I imagine a dead persons test isn’t priority as it’s not much use to them.

Does this get recorded as a covid induced death?

Based on current rules it doesn’t.
Given that the vast majority of our deaths are occurring in nursing homes what affect could this have on our recorded deaths?

surely must be many more people like this person who died while awaiting test result or weren’t even test the affect on the actual death rate is probably significant.

Those draconian restrictions took place in a single city (Wuhan). Everyone else in China outside Hubei province was free to go about their daily business.

The 'lockdown now' people seem to be under the impression the whole of China was placed under quarantine / martial law. In the Irish context, it would have been like if Waterford city had been placed under lockdown but nowhere else.
