    Mod:
Since some people may have forgotten this let us be perfectly clear here:
    No freedom of speech.
This is a private website. There is no "right" to freedom of speech here.
We, the Admins, and the Moderators DO want to promote discussion, but FREE un-moderated discussion online turns into a screaming match between children. We believe that rules of etiquette should be applied (see below). Shouting about how we have infringed your "freedom of speech" on a privately owned website is silly. You can use blogger.com to say what YOU like, what you aren’t entitled to is access to the community we have built here without abiding by the community's rules, as decided and enforced by us.
What that means is you're free to post in Irish as long as you have a full English translation to go with it in this or any other forum on boards with one exception which is surprise surprise the Gaeilge forum.

Now let's return to the topic at hand and any more discussion on this will be followed by further bans as discussing of mod decisions is not something done on thread but via PM.

Does anyone know if a position can be postponed?
For example if a person was ill or had a bereavement and reached the top of the panel, could they ask to be deferred without losing their place on the panel?

Ring PAS and and explain the situation.... Or drop them an email. They may ask for evidence.

    For stage 2 documentation....

Must I include my previous employer and current employer.

Been with current employer for 10 years since 2009.
Also with exam results on my application is it through universities for those?

At interview I brought my official degrees from university and a copy of them. If you don’t have your official degree parchment that you received on graduating you can ring up your university and give them your student number and they’ll post you out an official copy of your transcripts for free. I would imagine that should suffice too.

For the reference, I think they contact your current employer for reference when you have been offered a position.

What about past employments? I think it states last 3 years?

I was told it's fine. If you're more than three years with your current employer you don't need to provide references until the offer stage. I just brought the original qualifications, copies of them, the Garda vetting form and the existing employer form (from memory! It's been a while)
I definitely did not provide any references.

    Hi there.

I know I’ll probably get blocked again. But I need some answers if possible as it does relate to the English EO and the Irish EO.

Stage 2 for irish EO is examinataion in the morning for me. And an interview in the pm. So Ive tests at 1030 and interview at 2-30 or so.

What should I be wearing to exam and to interview?

Smart casual is a good approach as you can add or subtract layers as appropriate. I remember being really hot in interview and then really cold for written exams previously and was sorry I hadn't brought a jumper or scarf to throw around me. Thanks for alerting me to PAS change of address Outta, that hadn't registered with me. It's possible the building work going on at new premises could produce similar environment

Can anyone advise me as to asking for an appeal of results, informal/formal, and any experience of such?

Coming from a business background I find it impossible to not wear a full suit and tie etc for interview. Wud this be over dressed?

Based on my experience, yes. The staff in PSA and the interviewers all wore smart casual. Shirts and trousers or blouses, skirts, slacks

I didn't see anyone in a suit. Personally I wore black trousers and plain enough blouse (not white) and a black cardigan and passed the interview. I didn't see any other interviewees in suits

If you are a guy and you already have a suit you should definitely wear it to the interview.

I wore a dress but there was two men in the waiting area and both were in suits. I don't think it's overkill at all.

Hi there. I hope that your interview went well. Was the exam difficult? Did they cover all competencies in the interview? I have my interview and exam in 2 weeks. Thank you.

This competition is dead as a doornail until covid crisis is passed. CO comp still running mainly to recruit for DEASP or other essential admin I'd say.

I wonder will they extend the panel expiry date considering everything.

They would have to, not fair on candidates otherwise

Would there likely be recruitment embargo like last time there was a recession? I’m just waiting to be placed for a job but not holding my breadth now as assume if there’s a embargo, the whole thing will be scrapped

When is this panel due to expire? I don’t think it was stated in the campaign information booklet this time round.

End of January 2021. I emailed PAS about it in January/February.

Has anyone contacted PAS to find out if they are still recruiting?
