Well each single one of sometimes has double standards and contradictions I guess ;-)

46 days or so until the halving.

    Any predictions ?

Felt like 500 days away not so long ago!

    Miners already stopped.

51% attack chat around last week.

    It's a 50%+1 attack, not a 51% attack!

Meanwhile my crypto portfolio is very much in the sh1tter at the moment.

I think it'll be pretty uneventful. The halv(en)ing is already priced in as everyone involved in crypto knows it's coming. It'll turn out similar to LTC'c halv(en)ing last summer.

    Orange pilled.

It's more like the months/following year. Don't think many are expecting much to happen over the next few months, especially with the pandemic still being in its early days, but it'd definitely be a welcome bit of positivity to have things take off a bit

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,254 ✭✭✭Grumpypants

If anything we'll see a crash right around the halving as people expect a surge. When it doesn't happen they will quickly sell. The peak will love likely be a few months later.

I think we're forced to zoom out and look at the broader economic picture. We're going into recession - and that's going to have implications for bitcoin. That four year cycle is likely to be pushed out to a 5 year cycle this time round.

and just as XRP was starting to social distance itself from the rest yesterday, bitcoin whales decided to dump on us

Volume was shocking though recently and was never going to breach that $6900 resistance

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,501 ✭✭✭q85dw7osi4lebg

My own thoughts, it's not priced in. However I do think miners will dump prior to it in order to fund short term expenses moving forward until price rises. Going to save up some dry pow over the next 6 weeks in case there is a bargain can be had the week of the event.

Avid fan of the stock to flow model, if it fails it fails, if not, moon.

I think macro events now trump all that. The opportunity i'm looking at is the absolute pain thats going to hit across the markets as we have not seen anything yet. Bitcoin will be forced down with all of that.

Are you all out for now?

No...i screwed up and failed to implement proper risk management. So i'm underwater - its not worth my while getting out now. I'll ride it out. I have some dry powder but i want to catch that at the bottom or not at all.

I'm still playing with earnings from 2019 so on the one hand, not so bad. On the other, I don't like giving $ back :-D

The fundamentals and the proposition for BTC and crypto is as strong as ever to me. Nothing has changed in that regard. It's just that this global cluster&*%& (between covid and the markets already needing a correction - and this endless pumping of money, the job losses) - bitcoin can't but be affected by that (along with every other asset). So it wont seem fun trying to sit through that...but thats what i think will be necessary. All should come right again - just need to stay the course.

Agreed. However good to see Bitcoin up 20% in 12 Months while Dow & S&P have given away 2 years of gains, despite brrrrrrrrrr and covid19, some hopium at least.

    Hodl on.

    What's dry powder?

Liquid assets and cash that can easily be utilised to acquire in this case Bitcoin / Crypto at short notice.

Entertaining to see the bybit shilling youtube moonboys who were calling for 14k 6 weeks ago now calling for $2400.

It's awful, yet they are some of the most followed heads in the twittersphere. They are nothing without their affiliate links.

I'm below what I invested, but thats the nature of it, a few weeks ago I was up 10-15%

In it for the long term so happy enough to sit this one out

I've got a small bit of dry powder but BTC would want to drop to 3-4k for it to make it attractive to me at the moment as I picked up a bit on the last drop and not in a rush to pay in at this price

    Kin up 125%

Just wondering what platforms you all use for crypto trading? Honestly am not a big believer in cryptos but I'm basically willing to take a punt while prices are down a bit.

I've seen coinbase. 1.5% fees don't seem great but might be the best available.

For purchasing or trading? Kraken are decent and their fees are reasonable.

Fear & greed index in the floor the past few days. Lot of traders are bearish the last 3/4 days also. For that reason I think the bottom is in or thereabouts.

Another 5% to 15% drop across the board within the next 2/3 days

I dont like making predictions but ****it

looks like its hinging at the moment on that $5800 support for BTC
Its fairly strong and that was a good bounce we got off it
Probably rock sideways above it for a few days

On the platform side, I use Kraken for the majority of trading, but have an account with Binance that I've used for getting $NEO
