He answered questions today sent to him by children, it was lovely.

Wasnt a huge fan of him before, but as has been said many times before he's playing an absolute blinder with this.

For all those that want to go further on a run, bring some shopping bags.

It doesn't detail what are essential services.

So it's not possible to catch the virus within a 2km radius of your home.......can any experts confirm?

    Spreading the virus ffs.

Not aimed at anyone in particular, but I'm thinking the virus is definitely reducing the mental capacity of those not showing any other of the symptoms.

I'm still not clear on how mandatory these new restrictions now are.

Eg : there's over 150km between my house and my son. If I decide to travel between the 2 tomorrow, is someone actually going to stop me?

Chief Medical Officer in the UK has it.

    You couldn't make it up.

A person around lots of people all day has it.

    You couldn't make it up.

    ... oh wait yeah doh ... :o

    But they're from the UK.

So it's funny cause they're idiots.

    (wild applause)

Seriously, isn't it about time we laid off the UK bashing? They're our neighbours and friends. Many of us know people over there, and it would be nice to have some goodwill while we're all going through this crazy sh!tstorm together... instead of taking some sort of sick pleasure in seeing them suffer. (and this has nothing to do with whether or not you like Boris Johnson either btw)

We will be depending on people thinking of the greater good and complying.

Most will and hopefully that will be enough.

I'd imagine anyone taking the piss like having parties etc will attract the attention of the gardai.

Most will for sure. People know they are one from a community, not from an island, and act accordingly. Most people hate this and are frightened by how bad it could get. Don't get bogged down by the clowns rambling around with complete disregard for this virus. They are a minority.

It's been fine to jog 5 miles away for the last few weeks and it's fine to do it in every other country that is allowing exercise. It's a stupid nonsensical restriction

    I understand your points

But see it as rowing in to support and back your country.

Plenty time afterwards to do as you please

The more people that get behind this, whether they agree with it or not, the overall better for everyone

If you can impregnate your Mrs from 2 metres, I'll be the first to subscribe to your Pornhub channel.
It is 2 metres from another human, there is going to be a lot of sore sheep in a couple of weeks.

Before this we used to go to our local forest park every weekend. The past two weekends it has been more jammed than I have ever seen it, we turned around and headed back to our local canal instead.

That said, the forest park is more than 2k away.

I live 300m from the local Coilte woods, been a lot busier than usual the last few weeks, u'd often go in there on the nicest of summer afternoons and meet nobody. Hopefully have it back to myself for the next few weeks. :pac:

How do you prove you are essential worker to use public transport?

    Will the driver seek proof?

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,751 ✭✭✭growleaves

If people just “get on with it” , millions of people will die. You don’t write off millions of people because it’s an inconvenience. We can afford to take these measures.

Its purely speculative to say that millions of people would die. You don't know that. How many people on this thread know that every single influenza and URTI infection sees "exponential" increases before they taper off. People talking about how the Spanish Flu saw particularly bad mutations in its second go-round...if you aunty had balls she'd be your uncle.

2km in this rural area is very restrictive. I know we can do the weekly shopping but simple things for older people, like a daily newspaper, requires 5km or more to the local shop.

I imagine some will be dubious at first about how to proceed .
But if people sit down and figure things out there's usually a workable plan possible . e.g. people can arrange to share the shopping trips -one goes on Monday gets and distributes the daily papers etc ,another does the same on the other days . Some stores will probably set up a rudimentary delivery service .
Local gardai or social work groups etc. can chip in.
Ways can be found with a little ingenuity and some neighbourly co-operation

Asians are pretty responsible when it comes to their governments. We had gobsh1tes q'ing for chips and scummers spitting at Gardai and old people. That's the difference.
