In my opinion the following is the most worrying of all the figures so far. It means we are at the point which numerous posters wanted to see avoided (or at least further deferred) by having the State collect statistically valid random population sampling as a base for it's decisions.

COVID-19 is on the cusp of becoming unmanageable in Ireland as community transmission is now responsible for 49% of cases identified, all other transmission modes 51%.

    https://geohive.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/29dc1fec79164c179d18d8e53df82e96

Whistling past the graveyard has been much in fashion, but the numbers are moving on.

All methods to delay spread are even more valid now than they were before it became wild.

How true is this timeline? A week of symptoms means you have to go to hospital?

When the source is "scientists" you probably know already

I can’t be the only one who doesn’t find that remotely funny. He sounds fcuking unhinged

    Pathetic I find it..

The irony is in Sierra Leonne and New Guinea dealt far more effectively with a far more serious threat in Ebola, than the so called developed countries are dealing with the corona virus.

Ebola is a more serious threat if you have it. If you have neither Corona is by far the bigger risk. Ebola spreads slowly by comparison.

If Michael Gove is doing the daily press conference, that must mean that Rabb has it too.
    Not at all

Gove is not in charge, Rabb is not in charge. BoJo remains in charge and can delegate to whoever he considers most appropriate

People are going to die no way around that unfortunately for us all , What number of realistic deaths would you say that the government done a good job again baring in mind its something which we simply can not avoid ,
At this stage I will never give the government any credit.
They were very slow at the start of this for too long. They should have shut down airports and not allowed anybody in.
Only last week they ordered all civil servants to go to work without any proper protection in place.

We heard in the update around 11.30 that prisoners in our jails have been getting visits and that stops tomorrow. All the prisoners and staff working in prisons have been put at risk by this. And who knows how many people they are in contact with outside of work?
A prison is like a hospital as regards infections and viruses.
We also heard in that update that they are working hard to get people home who want to come home but you don't hear anything about them being quarantined when they arrive which should be the case. We don't need any new strains of this entering the country.

We are not testing enough people. We didn't lock down on time. We really haven't locked down enough yet. Varadkar going around saying he was projecting that 15k people would be infected, then knocking that number down to 6k and now reversing it again but still staying low is ludicrous. We need to make people realise just how dangerous this is. The word is getting out there now but it's not coming strongly enough from our government.

Over 900 deaths in Italy in the last 24 hours.

This isn’t a drill - stay the **** at home. You don’t want to catch this, you don’t want to spread this. Your great grandparents were called to war, you’re being called to stay on your couch unless you absolutely have to. That means you only go out to buy groceries once a week, to fill a prescription or to work if you’re in a frontline role. Exercise can be done at home, loads of free videos on YouTube.

You do NOT need to go jogging, you do NOT need to go hiking, your dog absolutely will survive being inside for a few weeks. Your pet’s health is not as important as that of your fellow human beings.

If you disagree with this, you’re being selfish.

A week of symptoms is long enough though. Surely by that stage you need some help.

We may see further restrictions announced this evening, following the meeting of the National Public Health Emergency Team earlier. Awaiting an update on if this is happening.

Wtf. Do you really not get it?

I do get it. I understand that this is a serious thing to hit Ireland. But this is a discussion forum. So its right that we discuss the virus and the measures that are taken. I am of the view that in Ireland we don't need to be as draconian as other countries as our population density is lower as is our population in general.

Jogging is fine, going for a walk is fine....
Being outside in general is fine.... just avoid large groups, crowds. Its pretty easy to do considering the circumstances.
