Maybe this has been lost in all the noise lately, but, surely, I can't be the only one watching this?

It starts at utterly crazy and then just gets utterly batshyte. How did this all happen for real? How do these nutters exist?

Just finished episode 3. From ep 1 I was looking at them as mad but they're all cute fookers. The end of ep 2 was a holy crap this can't be real moment.

Have to say I'm enjoying it but I'd hate to have to deal with any of the characters in that show in any way.

I watched it on Wednesday, as it popped up as a suggestion on Netflix. Although I enjoyed the first episode, I considered not continuing, as I thought they'd just milk it. So happy, I continued watching, as episode 1 is just the tip of the iceberg. The amount of stuff that happens after that! One of the best things I've ever seen.

I was a bit, meh, after the first episode, but, like you said, it gets so crazy. That funeral speech was one of the most WTF moments of all time.

If it was a fictional show for tv , you'd think the writers were on some fairly strong mind altering drugs when they were writing it !

Absolutely crazy , twists and turns , with an unforgettable soundtrack too :D

There is likely going to be a second season

Wouldn’t that take a few of the others to go down first? I don’t think there’s been any further arrests since filming ended and the zoo and Antle’s Safari Park are still open. Unless there’s a trial or something else big like that, what would season 2 be about?

Jeff Lowe would probably provide plenty of material for a new season also Joe Exotic is filing a $94million law suit against Lowe and the US Fish and Wildlife Service

    Also

Speaking to EW, one of the film’s directors Rebecca Chaiklin says Tiger King Season 2 could absolutely happen:

“To be continued,” she says after a long pause. “I mean, yes we have a crazy amount of footage and it’s a story that’s still unfolding. We’re not sure yet, but there could be a follow-up on this story because there’s a lot that’s still unfolding in it, and it’ll be just as dramatic and just as colorful as what has unfolded these past few years.”

    https://collider.com/tiger-king-season-2-netflix/

Also from that article, Dax Shepard a great call to play Joe

But even if Tiger King Season 2 doesn’t happen, there will be more Joe Exotic on the small screen. Before the Netflix show premiered, a TV series adaptation of the podcast Joe Exotic was announced with Kate McKinnon playing the role fo Carole Baskin, from the producers of the TV series adaptation of the podcast Dirty John. No word on how soon that show might happen, or who’ll play Joe Exotic (it’s gotta be Dax Shepard right?)

Started watching this last night, finished episode 3 earlier today, it's brilliant, you just couldn't make this stuff up, anyone called Joe Exotic with a mullet like his deserves a Netflix series !

What do I watch after this?

Louis Theroux did a 2012 documentary that features Joe, it’s on Netflix,
also Rick Kirkham has a self made documentary TV Junkie on his You Tube channel...or you could watch it all again, I’m sure I didn’t fully process all the crazy first time watching, it came so hard and fast, so that’s what I’m gonna do.

The funniest/most worrying thing in the whole series for me was that he got 19% in the Governor elections. That's nearly one in every 5 adults in Oklahoma that voted, voted for him to be their Governor.

I thought the same but then I read he got 19% of the vote to be the libertarian candidate to run for governor. They didnt make that clear at all but it's still a decent chunk of people I'd say

Man felt so sorry for Travis - he was so messed up .
Nevermind then the funeral and joe doing the ceremony in the Priest outfit and what he said about him and then him singing  He moved on pretty quickly - quite disturbing really

Absolutely wild show. As another poster said, you if it was fiction the writers would want to be on acid to come up with some of the stuff in it.

Mentioned it to my colleagues based in Dallas towards the end of a call today and they are embarrassed by it.

5000 to 10000 tigers in captivity in the US when 4000 exist in the wild is a disgrace stat. What a truly ****ed up country.

The first half of the documentary is better. Overall, I found it a bit unfocused. There were three or four different stories in there. I finished watching because I wanted to see it through but the last two episodes were tedious enough.

I found Joe Exotic to be a complete cretin. Preying on troubled, vulnerable people.

There wasn’t really enough information on Carole’s sanctuary for me to make a judgement. I listened out for them to say how many hours the volunteers work but that never came. Animals sanctuaries wouldn’t run without volunteers (even at Christmas). I’ve no problem with it as long as they aren’t pulling crazy hours. And they don’t seem to live on-site. I wasn’t left convinced that her big cat park was as bad as Joe’s and Doc’s. It’s a registered charity with a high rating. On the accusations against her - it’s very possible but we just don’t know.

On episode 4 here. It's the most mental program/series I've ever seen on any TV, ever. It's off the wall. Disturbing viewing but I would recommend it as good for lock-down viewing. Some Americans are batsh1t crazy.

    Joe is likeable, she isn't

I didn’t find him likeable at all. By his own admission,
he targeted vulnerable people and hooked them into slave labour using drugs. Made Travis’s funeral all about himself. And straight away, I clocked that Travis was not a happy camper. He looked completely baffled in the wedding footage. Really sad stuff.

Got rid of tigers when they became inconvenient.

Was fixated on Carole in a really creepy way.
    .

I haven’t even covered everything there.

Yeah, I’m not seeing what was likeable about him. An absolute creep.

There's nothing likable about Joe, imo. He is cruel to animals :(. He's wired to the moon. I'm only on ep. 4 but reckon she "disappeared" her first husband. Mental, the lot of them.

Ah Joe Exotic was a likeable lad but you wouldnt want to know him if you know what i mean.

Doc Antle was a downright creep.

I don’t know why she’s getting more heat than Joe.

Because it seems like she killed her husband and fed him to lion's.

Also the way she swindled his daughters out of their inheritance was pure evil.

True dat. Has a similar MO to Exotic except with women.

“Seems like”. Everything we heard on both those topics was from one side.

There was uncorroborated stuff against Joe Exotic in the documentary too of course but there was enough concrete stuff on him to make a judgement, IMO. Remember, there is no conviction against Carole whilst Joe is convicted of attempted murder for hire. It’s an odd double standard. Hiring somebody to murder somebody is the same as doing it yourself, IMO. Think Catherine Nevin. So if Carole DID do what people think she did to her ex, then Joe is guilty of trying to do the same. It makes no sense to dislike her more than him based on her supposed crime. He tried to do exactly the same to another human being. Not to mention all his other scumbaggery.

The problem with Carol Baskin is that she embodies an attitude found within the animal rights movement which creates a backlash. She gave off an air of smugness and sanctimony with her permanent fey smile and crown of flowers that she likes to wear. That before you even get into the questions of what she may or may not have done herself, and if she's really as nice as she portrays herself to be.

I think we can safely say she is NOT as nice as she wants to portray herself. :pac: Definitely an oddball.

I just thought the comparisons between her park and those of Doc and Joe were a bit sneaky. We really didn’t get enough information there and that she doesn’t allow petting or handling of the animals already makes her place better than theirs. We hear the hours people work for pittance in Joe and Doc’s zoos but if you watch back, it’s never said how many hours her volunteers work. One of them working on Christmas day is highlighted but that’s all. I’ve volunteered at an animal shelter. It was definitely hard work but it was, like, six hours a week, sometimes less. All sanctuaries and shelters depend heavily on volunteers. And at least her volunteers can go home in the evening.

Joe was also laughing at how few big cats she had but isn’t that kind of the point? The reason he ended up with so many was because of his need for moneymaking cubs which then grow up.

I sound like I’m in love with Carole but I’m not. I thought she was a big weirdo. I’m just not convinced that she was as bad as the other two buckos. If she DID do what she is suspected of then she is as bad though.

    Oh and fuck Jeff Lowe.
