You know these death numbers coming with covid 19 , is it actually the virus killing people or say... If someone was on the way out.. and contracted the virus would that death be attributed to covid 19?

It must be a really rapid killer if it's just straight up the virus killing people , the death information seems vague tho.

Whilst there is no evidence that humans can get infected by their pets, it is worth bearing in mind there is a possibility.

Which trajectory do you think is most likely for us, Coyote? The middle one?

my hope is that we get to somewhere between slow change and lockdown
when i started tracking it we were at 30 to 25% per day
now were at 16.5 and seem to drop about 2% per two days but is that testing not keeping up or people avoiding each other it's hard to tell
the more you test the more you find but thats a good thing.

We will soon be Italy. Big thanks to the government for taking ZERO steps to keep the virus out.

Call the Gardai, no question. If 98% of people take precautions and 2% of people act like idiots then every single vulnerable person in Ireland is still at risk, it's not acceptable.

    Without fines its probably pointless.

Without fines kids will treat it as a joke.

Maybe the threat of a 500 euro fine might focus their minds.

Time to put aside liberal values at a time like this. Impossible to save lives when you have idiots treating a lockdown as a joke with zero punishment.

Just found out my bus in the evening has been cancelled until further notice. So now I've to make two bus journeys home. Going to take me on average 2 hours to get home now each night. I asked my boss could I maybe get off an hour earlier each day and I'll work my lunch and try to get in even earlier than usual. I was told no. Even though most of the people in my office are now working from home. I feel like just quitting. Having a family member with an underlying condition too is just adding to my stress. Don't know what to do next. Wouldn't mind but my work is also non essential. Maybe I should just go to the doctor and see if I can get off with work related stress or something. It stands against everything I do though. You see people's true colours at times like this

Tell him you'll work from home and if he demands you come in then tell him to sack you and you'll take him and the company to an unfair dismissal tribunal after all this is over.

There's still plenty of factories and call centres open with hundreds or thousands working in them. Why have the government or HSE not decided to close these places? I know some cant just walk out or they don't get paid

The Telcos should be offering their ‘softclient’ licenses for free or at very reduced cost to allow call center workers the option of working from home

    Simple as that, eh?

Nope not at all but its better then collapsing the who health sector and see hundreds to thousands die (and not just from this virus but from other who could not get the treatment they needed like cancer or dialysis) just to get people to spend

    Not 100% true.

Stop people moving and you'll stop the virus spreading.
You could still pick it up from an infected surface if you're not taking right precautions.

So go for a run on your own and don't lick the railings?

The virus is reported to exist on surfaces longer than most, but UV will kill it, and we get 12 hours of sunlight now.

Thank you. I think you've just made my decision for me. My health and my family's health is more important than a job.

I was in the same boat I live with someone at high risk, but the work I do at the min makes critical parts for medical equipment, so Its a tougher choice... As demand has gone thru the roof and am need to do extra hours rather than less

If I could I would stay at home tho **** the money

Its causes issues with getting oxygen into the red blood cells, so the heart has to pump faster to get more red blood cells around the body. Weak hearts may not take the strain.

i said it before, if it starts spreading in homeless people, a few hotels will have to go into lockdown

Depends on what they mean by homeless. Is it the new definition does who do not own a home and had there heads in the sand or is it the homeless that live on the streets

They're counting all deaths as attributed, if the person had it when they died. Which is wrong, imo.

I doubt it L. I really do. Now I do take off my shoes when I get home and leave them on a matt soaked with bleach, but maybe I'm taking it too far.:D But I would be shocked if roads and paths were a real risk.

And yes fomite transmission is a big thing, but fomite means any object humans interact with that can spread contagion. Roads are way down the list compared to door handles, cars, handrails, phones, keys, money, cards, wallets, purses, shopping, shared areas in apartment blocks etc.

I would think paths would be quite contaminated. When you think of busy places and people coughing etc it is possibly that the virus is on them.

I still see some people spitting on paths even now. Gross

Yep for me and other bosses, its easy to forget unless its an essential job they are in dodgy territory if they try to strong arm you coming in.
If any of the employees are exposed to this in a work environment and the employer is not following Government/HSE guidelines the employer may leave themselves exposed to legal action. Although their insurers may end up dealing with any claim, a business could be completely destroyed if they get one adverse legal action/claim on something like this

There is opportunity for employers and service providers to build up good will with customers and staff. People will remember the businesses that profiteered or tried to needlessly endanger their workers
