Images from a housing estate in Donnycarney appear to show a group of 20+ gathered as if there's a party. Marshall law more appealing by the minute

Is Marshall Law the music they're listening to?

You should just stick to doing it with your hand to be sure, should be safe enough. Make sure to wash hands before and after to minimise risk.

    This,

Where is there anything about changing definition for a test?
Can’t see it from any sources?

Neither did I , just a post I responded to

I briefly tuned into Matt Cooper there this evening, and apparently someone doing some of the testing texted in to say that 10 people didn't show to appointments on Sunday.
What an almighty waste of time and resources....

I wonder did a number of those people not actually make it to testing and end up in hospital instead?
if you're in need of hospital treatment, you're not going to hang around waiting for a test first, and going by the other thread, there's a long wait.

I feel feel the tests are taking too long to come and people described as above won’t take it seriously. That’s the fundamental difference, we aren’t quarantined here where as far people with a temperature were likely packed away and quarantined in China to protect others.

Some people just don’t take it seriously at all. I’m sure people like this person described is out using ATM machines etc

Yeah I agree. The amount of people who show up in work who are clearly quite sick with no regard for their colleagues health. They can work from home but don't. Don't visit the doctor even though there is clearly something wrong with them. I don't know if its the cost of a doctors visit or what.

Those are the kinda people who I'm terrified of.
"Sure I'll just go to the gym"
    "Sure it's just a cough"

Approaching manslaughter in this current climate. Delay in testing is aiding and abetting.

Change in case definition for a test.

As expected a large number of people simply with a cough or even a bit of a head cold looking for testing.

Must have 2 symptoms now, previously cough or fever, now both.

yup. a bad miscalculation that has clogged up our testing regime and lost us valuable time. most saw this coming.

    Hi Berties

i total agree, the number are conservative, i put up number last night with higher numbers, it to show that any change in how people meet and deal with others needs to be put in place at least 14 days before you see the affect

I think they need to put this everywhere with 2 levels of severity, low for following the HSE guidelines and high for acting like a complete fool and queuing for fish and chips. The difference between a 17% increase daily and let's say 40% increase daily is massive in the long run.

So, I still can't understand this. Or maybe I can.

    Britain 66 million.
    Ireland 5 million
    66/5= 13

    Britain coronavirus deaths: 424
    Ireland coronavirus deaths: 7
    424/7= 60

Pro rata, Ireland should have 37 deaths.

What are we doing right or what are they doing wrong? Or what have they done wrong more likely.

London has a population of 8.9 million people who are densely packed together. New Zealand has the same population as Ireland and no deaths. Croatia lower population than Ireland and only 1 death.

Yeah exactly. Let's say I'm in my house with my wife and 2 kids and have been working from home for 2 weeks, rarely gone for anything other than milk. If I get tested, they're my close contacts.

Was always going to happen really. Most of the nation seems to panic with anything medical.

We cleared the a&es for this but now everyone with a sniffle is clogging up the gp system.

But the main thing that they said during the press conference is that the test is only a confirmer. If anyone has symptoms that dont require hospital treatment, self isolate for 14 days. That way we stop any further spread outside of the house during that period.

Which is crucial, have symptoms isolate simple as. Only way to stop the spread test or no test

    What's an official lockdown?

Nothing wrong with the term as such -don't know if any other comparable designation has been coined.
Some people however dislike its connotations because it's origin seems to lie in the US to refer to a police action in a mass shooting type /terrorist incident.
I'd say we're stuck with it.

Those projections by Coyote are really interesting. I'm sure the government have done similar but it just shows how small the difference is between ICUs being overwhelmed and the health system being able to manage.

It makes it glaringly obvious how critical it is what people do now

I would term it the 'Brexit' mentality, people who don't like being told what to do and think they know better.

    Exactly this.

A stupid retarded jingoism among their dreadful media and a post-election glee and distraction in Number 10 that totally and utterly let down ordinary people when they needed guidance and leadership.

In another few weeks they would soil themselves to exchange their problems for some Brexit consequences. Brexit will likely never matter again.

I'm not religious really, but as the saying goes 'If you want to make God laugh, tell him you're making plans'.
