So, I still can't understand this. Or maybe I can.

    Britain 66 million.
    Ireland 5 million
    66/5= 13

    Britain coronavirus deaths: 424
    Ireland coronavirus deaths: 7
    424/7= 60

Pro rata, Ireland should have 37 deaths.

What are we doing right or what are they doing wrong? Or what have they done wrong more likely.
It's got a grip in London. It makes more sense to compare the NI numbers, where deaths are not very far adrift. The Irish Sea does offer us some protection

Why? Does it make you feel better if they are older and you can not be as vigilant anymore?

No, I ask because up to yesterday they gave the gender and age of people who passed then didn’t yesterday for some reason.

Change in case definition for a test.

As expected a large number of people simply with a cough or even a bit of a head cold looking for testing.

Must have 2 symptoms now, previously cough or fever, now both.

You had every hypochondriac in the country seeking testing. Of course they were overwhelmed.

But I thought the fever , if it comes, takes 5+ days to manifest. And fever isn't afaik seen in everyone.

Must be, with the HSE and Government logos in the header - or at least they provide the data for GeoHive.

I would term it the 'Brexit' mentality, people who don't like being told what to do and think they know better.

    This,

Where is there anything about changing definition for a test?
Can’t see it from any sources?

Anyone worrying about ICU beds at 35 people rn needs to calm a little bit. My father is a senior executive in the HSE, and he has told me that ICU numbers are approaching 3 times what we had before this.

    Don't think so.

They have 5 deaths out of 1.8million people. We have 6 deaths out of 4.8million people. Unless we have a dramatic spike in death toll today, their mortality rate is much higher.

I think in the North and in England, there is no community testing. They only test if patients who are admitted to hospital.

I briefly tuned into Matt Cooper there this evening, and apparently someone doing some of the testing texted in to say that 10 people didn't show to appointments on Sunday.
What an almighty waste of time and resources....

Deaf Irish Sign Language user here. It's very complex interpreting a visual language into a spoken one and vice versa. Different part of the brain is used. It gets very tiring. The quality of the interpretation deteriorates hence them swapping. They usually work in pairs , interpreting for twenty minutes at a time.

The general public does not really know the full extent of previous oppressive state and church policies regarding the Deaf community. Irish Sign Language, once banned from use, was recognised as an official native language of Ireland in 2017, hence why we can access this information in our own language now. It is the native language of the Deaf community and has been in existence for hundreds of years. Sign Languages are full languages, just like spoken ones. Every native one is different, with dialects, regional variations, accents and so on. Deaf people tend to have very poor English literacy here due to the previous education system and because of the disparities between spoken and visual languages. After all they cannot hear it being spoken, yet are expected to understand. Getting information in our own language is best for us however, it is not easily accessible.

And no, it is not Lámh. I really wish people would educate themselves on that. Lámh is a made up form of communication. It was put together in the 1980s by a group of academics. It consists of single ISL signs (i think 500) simplified and paired with spoken English. They have something similiar in the UK, it is called Makaton and consists of single British Sign Language signs paired with spoken English. Deaf people do not speak when signing as it is a silent, visual, expressive language consisting of movements that include the face, lips, eyes, hands and body. In fact the majority of Deaf people are prelingually deaf and have never heard a spoken language being spoken. Irish Sign Language is their first and native language. Lámh is a communication tool, not language and is used for hearing children who are non verbal or have intellectual disabilities and have difficulties expressing themselves.

Good start hopefully we really are going the Singapore route. The clustering on the Singapore dashboard is quite good. Also the case level information around how long people are in hospital and ICU etc.

    Check it out.

While it's good to have this information, it's like a TY project. The county graph is particularly awful.
