I love the look of that, especially the Toyota dog cage

Class but it's not a "real" one. The proper ones came with the beams engine...and I saw one recently for less than half that!

    I'd say you're thinking of a n/a caldina.

The sprinter carrib bz touring as Tacitus kilgore mentioned above had a 20v 4age and six speed box.

Ah you're right! I'm totally wrong there, was definitely thinking of the Caldina. Some of the lads in NZ had a turbo one too, not sure if that's different again to the beams engine. So many Japanese variants...of everything!

Someone in Dublin had a white gen3 auto 2.0 n/a 1az powered one (150bhp avensis engine). That was sold a few times for cheap enough money.

The gen2 caldina's could be got with a beams engine alright think they're called gt's

Cheensbo who used to post on here, has or had a proper caldina GT-T 4wd with the 3sgte engine. Very cool car and very sought after. He's from the midlands iirc (shame he doesn't post anymore)

There was an absolute gorgeous two tone Caldina for sale last year in Limerick for around 2k, it was immaculate, and diesel, and automatic...it ticked all my boxes but not my insurance companies! Black over grey if I remember correctly.

I think I know the one. It's a gorgeous car alright. And yes black over grey. It'd be dog slow but that'd nearly add to its charm.

Autoline on a classic policy would be the only hope for insurance. Car has to be over 25 years old now though and ya have to be over 30 for jap imports.

Love these cars but I'd only be interested in the 1.7 one.

You mean the better 1.7 model. Ford Puma Racing I think it's called but it's rare. I wonder is there even a Racing model in the country.

Yeah I think Cosworth had some involvement with the engine.

They actually went to Japan. Yamaha helped them.

Does sold as seen still mean there's 'n' issues with it and its up to you to find them before you hand over the cash?

Nice and all as this is, is a 1.6 automatic Corolla estate worth €6500?

She would make a serious ecto-1 ghostbusters replica lads.imagine it done as ecto-1 and collecting the kids from school in it.

The original Pumas had the 1.7 with variable valve timing. The Puma racing was a wide body 2.0 and they are rare. The 1.6 and 1.4 came afterwards.

The 1.7 was developed alongside Yahama and was a great little engine. The racing puma had the same engine with 30 more HP with the bodywork by Tickford.

Ex colleague of mine had one. She treated it like a baby - literally looked like it just left the showroom. Was a passenger in a few times and it was fast as hell.

The wider body really suited it

Is it me or is the bonnet on that not sitting right?

No its not just you. There is definitely something amiss at the back of it alright.
Just looking at the new Puma its a horrendous looking thing. Wouldn't mind knowing the logic of why they used the name Puma for it. Ford Liger might me more appropriate if they were hell bent on using a cat family name.

LHD stuff in general is hugely popular in Japan. They're seen as rare and a sign of wealth. Not a Honda Civic but big Mercs/Porsche etc

I think the reason for that is that there is a high tax on imports there. If you drive a lhd, you've paid a lot of money to import it = you're wealthy.

Wouldnt be for me, but them Glanzas were mad popular. Plenty of lads that wanted one and could not afford to buy or insure it back in the day now are older and have the cash to do so.

And just 7k on it. It will sell quick i think.

What does TFB think of that. He knows them cars probably better than anyone else here.

Whats that grey thing in passenger foot well?

That went through the auction in Japan in 2016 and 2017. Theres two for sale with just 30,000km for around 9k each not including import and fees. 15k for that wouldn't be far off, looks like an absolute gem
