Don't get this, it was very clear to me and the message was to stay at home. Simple.

    But see family.

Non essential business close, what is non essential?

A lot of companies don't know what to do.

Ministers on the talk shows now unable to explain what to do either.

Like I said they just created a rather large communication problem. It needs to be addressed quickly.

Have been watching DARTS going by my house all day, saw about 15 trains and I would say a total of 7 passengers maybe 8.

    Lucky feckers.

fox news doing a live interview with trump and his usual side people on this......crazy watching it...the presenter and guests skyping in are all praising trump and thanking him for his 'decisive' actions...these are top doctors who are guesting......trump saying how getting economy back in action is more important than anything, they are all nodding...one doctor came on and straight away "as a nation we are all indebted to you sir for your leadership on this"
the presenter at one stage said "i think we can all agree that the fatality rate is miniscule".

    fox news eh.

Lots still open in Dublin, especially group Hotels such as Dalata (except the Clayton with all of those "confirmed" cases ;) ), Jurys Inns etc.

    Mine closed last week though.

and the French as well, they do have a high number of deaths

They don't. They have 800 dead.

Italy has 6000 dead with a population of 60 million.

Whereas China has 3000 dead with a population of one billion. Let that sink in.

France is not counting in the total number the elderly who have been dying in the nursing homes (EPHAD).

I hope educated people dont forget this when its over . . Seems like its driving SF nuts to watch our outgoing government do such an exceptional job and really looking like the kind of leaders alot of countries are lacking... I would say there are populations in other countries quite envious of us at the moment....

I remember Dr Aylwards conference (Feb 25th) that really blew this open:

    - "Think the virus is going to show up tomorrow"
    - " There was a report that showed this virus would be in every province within 120 days"
    - "you take the approach, if this hits us we have to stop it. Dont act defeated" (UK/USA)
    - "You have got to have enough ventilater"
    - "You have to test"
    - "You have to talk to you populations. They gotta know you are going to take care of them"
    - "Talk to people who have done it, China have done it"
    - "Time is everything in this disease"
    - "Re-purposing of govnerment/resources as required worked for China"
    - " Everybody has to be involved and pulling in the same direction"
    - " Take a war footing to turn this around. Population needs to be highly sensitised to the issue"
    - "Average onset to symptoms before showing in hospital was 15 days"
    - "You gotta be as ready as possible, but you can never be fully ready"

Again, some countries trying to create a negative narrative against China. Yes they tried to cover it up initially but then they gave us weeks/months head-start to come to terms with it. They worked with WHO to get as much information out as possible.

I really feel our authorities here are trying their hardest to try and follow a lot of these recommendations within our restricted resources (testing capacity in particular). Our testing is less then ideal, but they are trying to address it. As he said "no matter how prepared you are for this, even the most advanced countries will not be prepared".

Listening to Trump you would swear this virus snook up on everybody. We have had so much information , that we got from China, for weeks at this stage.

No Trump banned travel from China in JANUARY.
Also the Chinese communist party surpressed vital information for 6 weeks and locked up dissenters trying to spread information. So stop the CCP propaganda ok

While admirable on face value I can't help but think it might have the unintended consequence of keeping prices higher for the native catch.

    https://www.irishtimes.com/news/politics/minister-not-proposing-fishing-fleet-tie-up-despite-covid-19-impact-1.4208243

I suspect it's anything but unintended.

I thought I read somewhere that if you income dropped by 25% you could apply. But I can't remember where I saw that.

    This is what I found:
"The scheme is targeted at companies hit by the collapse of economic activity triggered by Covid-19 - and employers seeking to avail of it would have to demonstrate a reduction in income of at least 25%, along with cash flow difficulties."

I'm not an employer, though. I'm just self employed as a sole trader.

    I'm so confused...

Taken from the Press release - it would seem that you need to prove a 25% drop in turnover. I know this is open to interpretation but worth checking

Employers must self-declare to Revenue that they have experienced significant negative economic disruption due to Covid-19, with a minimum of 25% decline in turnover, and an inability to pay normal wages and other outgoings, in accordance with guidance to be issued by Revenue.

I don't have employees though so maybe that's targeted to companies who will struggle to pay their workers?

Not sure it applies to a sole trader who's struggling but just covering bills. I can definitely show a drop over over 25% but not sure it applies.

I've had my fair share of gripes against our current government but I have to say, I feel very lucky when I look over at the USA.

As bad as we'll have it, the people over there are about to realise how little their government thinks of them.

Dont understand why a son could not walk to a chosen outdoor location and have a short conversation at 3 or 4 metres distance with their mother once or twice a week.

This is all about common sense and not strict rules. People need to cop on and stop the crap.

This is going to be our lives for 2 or 3 months we need to be set goals to be realistic and achievable.

DART is still empty, just saw one leaving the city, normally it would be faces pressed against the window packed, there was about 8 people on a full carriage train.
